I am going to be working in Winnipeg from May-September so L.A. is a very real possibility for me.

I'm going to have a short-term lease on a car with quite significant mileage, so I am actually considering driving the epic distances to all three group stage matches with a friend.

Hopefully will get to see some of the Left Coast guys I met in Seattle if I make it to L.A.

Just have to make sure I can take the vacation time, will let you guys know.

Do we need to get you some fake ID?

Thankfully I turned 21 in November - although the pure amazement at the realisation that I couldn't ENTER that bar in Seattle has yet to wear off.

So thanks for the thought haha.

If you do end up driving, would you have an extra seat?? This would be incredible!!

Now that's an epic journey I'd love to go on. You'd be going through some pretty cool places. Las Vegas for example, and right past the Grand Canyon on the way to Columbus!

Since I was curious I looked up the driving times.

31 Hours to LA

33 Hours to Columbus

18 Hours to Miami

35 Hours to Winnipeg.

I'm going to have to give this some serious thought.

A couple of opinions, fwiw. During Chivas games, the Chivas supporters set up under the grass, so I don't see the "family atmosphere" being a problem. And for these four teams, if there's anyone up there, they'll likely be Central Americans and used to a football atmosphere.

As far as accommodations, I would recommend staying in the Manhattan/Hermosa/Redondo Beach areas. They're about a 15 minute drive from the HDC and far nicer surroundings than Carson. I stayed at a Residence Inn in Manhattan Beach for about 100 bucks a night. Walking distance from the beach and could sleep four, in a pinch.

Tickets go on sale Friday, guys. So let's sort out this section thing once and for all.

I still think we should go with section 101. First off, 121 is the Galaxy/Chivas supporters section, so if we go there we might clash with any enthusiastic neutrals (it could happen - unlikely, but let's not pretend it's impossible). Second, that grass berm really worries me, since if security guys get complaints about language or gestures from a dad and two kids, things might go wrong for us in a hurry. Third, yes, 101 is deeper than 121, but there's not going to be many of us so it'll be most important to just get to the front row of whatever section we're in regardless of its size.

I'm in favour of buying tickets in 101 and trying to get in the first couple rows if at all possible. If anybody could buy up a block of tickets, even just two or three extra, that would be hugely helpful. I'd love to help out in that regard but, to put it bluntly, I'm spending more money than I've got on the Gold Cup already!

Any objections? I think we need to know where we're going to be on Friday so we can make sure we concentrate as much as possible.

I might be attending this game, I've not made any plans yet. Does anyone expect a quick sell out? Is there a lot of competition for section 101? I know how empty the giant football stadiums are for these games but HomeD has half the seats. I'm tentitive at best this week so if there is a list people are being added to you might add me with astrix.

Ok stupid Ticketmaster won't let me pick the section...any suggestions?

Call them. Look up the direct local line for the city and call them long distance. I had similar problems during WCQ and they were very accommodating.

Good luck.

cheers,

matthew

Yup call. During the Jamaica game they wouldnt let you pick sections either so I just called and got a WAY better section, basically they just throw the worst ones at you first.
