Clicking on the banner leads you to the following survey. http://www.bcndp.ca/haveyoursay There will be a provincial election on May 12th 2009. I urge you all to fill it out the survey using a random BC postal code (it doesn't even take 1 minute). It's obvious they intend to turn it into an issue. But if the contracts are signed and solid, it's just campaign rhetoric. But it's an incredibly stupid issue for them to hang their hat on. Question though: maybe a sane person, regardless of politics, would think that $300m is quite a bit to refurbish a piece of crap ground that nobody wants in the first place. Maybe a provincial government would be able to push through a downtown stadium for the Caps, ready for 2011, funded with private monies which are clearly available? Crazy idea, I know. And then send the Lions out to Surrey where they belong. And good f'cking ridance to the home and garden and boat shows which would be better off in Surrey as well. They talk about how shifty Gordon Campbell is and like to talk about his drunk driving thing in Hawaii. Then they pretend they have no idea what you're talking about when you point out that there last two NDP premiers in power resigned over scandals. Mike Harcourt for the "BingoGate scandal" and Glen Clark's "CasinoGate scandal" along with his fudged budget numbers and the approximately Billion dollar write off for BC Ferries thanks to the Fast Ferry Fiasco. I am very worried about what this next election holds, as I find BC voters seem to forget quickly about the past. The last thing we need is the NDP to kill the roof project. I actually have strong beliefs on many of the issues they fight for. The great Emery Barnes was my first BC MLA (He used to play for the Lions...a big-hearted giant of a man, and I'm proud to say I voted for him). But they're hopelessly inept in actually dealing with the issues of today. When it comes to Mike Harcourt, he's an honourable man who really had nothing to do with the "BingoGate" scandal except for the fact that he was in charge when it came to light. He took the knife to keep his party in power. I've never heard anyone utter a bad word against him beyond that. Glen Clark? No doubt...he had to go. The fudget budget should have been enough. Fast ferries were the worst financial disaster this province has ever faced. The patio scandal would have forced most politicians into jail. But somehow, Carole James strikes me as worse. She has no ideas or vision. She's weak and her caucus knows it. She's against major projects one day, like the Port Mann Bridge (Which I cross most days to get to work), and then she's for them, once she realizes that she wouldn't elect a single MLA south of the Fraser. Her party has chased out a lot of the experienced, moderate people who know how to compromise when it comes to running the province since the Clark era. Vancouver's mayor, Gregor Robertson, abandoned the NDP caucus to run last October and she only found out through the press the day it happened. And she's going to hang her hat on BC Place this election? Ridiculous. This BC Place issue? Why? Why would the NDP squander what credibility it had with ACTUAL working people in Vancouver over this? I'm sure trashing BC Place might play well in Penticton. But I doubt it will work here. And if they try it, they can expect a fight like never before. Or was it just a random example of a small city that might feel like it doesn't benefit from spending all the money on a stadium in Vancouver?
