ottawaguy2009
VALENCIA vs. MLS All Stars Not sure how reliable of a source this is: http://valencia.theoffside.com/team-news/valencia-cf-in-mls-all-star-game.html So far the MLS AST is undefeated. There are still plenty of MLS haters out there, namely Europeans (see YouTube comment boards) and certain friends of mine (from countries overseas where football is king). MLS All Star Games are a nice way to bridge the Old World and the New World. It shows Europeans that we can compete and that we are getting better. Oddly enough, it may not be the Europeans that need convincing but Canadians/Americans within our own ranks who take every chance they get to decry the MLS as a trumped up "varsity league". We'll see.

VPjr
Valencia is in deep crap....palyers have not been paid for months. Valencia is not the only club not paying players promptly in La Liga. There are other clubs that are 1-3 months behind on payments. It is a very tenuous situation.
Danny Boy
Is this common amongst top division clubs in Europe or is this just limited to Spain? I figure with all the money thrown around in tranfers etc. that eventually there will be clubs that can't compete in the market. Is it time for UEFA to step in and create caps for salaries and transfer fees? Do they have jurisdiction? Should we start an unravelling of UEFA thread? SthMelbRed
^If you believe half the media reports, none of those three players will still be with Valencia by the time they rock up in Seattle.
CanadianSoccerFan
Construction on their audacious new stadium has stopped. They are using the future sale of the Mestalla to help pay for the new stadium but the recession has dropped its value which doesn't help.
