Gian-Luca
Hmmm. No goals in either pre-tourney friendlies for Canada.

But just wondering here. Has anyone seen many of these players play? Three players I have seen and rate Bonifacio, Gala and Suprenant didn't start. All three are pros and I am wondering if these players that started ahead of them such as Davies, Sidra and Porter warrant it all three are amateurs. I haven't seen Gage play but i've heard good things and he also didn't start. Any ideas on a final XI? Also interesting to see that Kennedy Owusu Ansah looked to have played right wing. Because, in that regard, we are miles ahead of where we previously were. In the past, the first and only time that we ever got see any of these players was in Conconcaf qualifying. That is, if it was ever on TV because more often than not it was't. Whereas this time, we can claim that there are several that we have seen on TV or live and that's because increased exposure coming from TFC and the Voyageurs cup and having BMO field around. Most of us would have seen Gala and Nana play and we got a glimse on Surprenant in that first Voyageurs cup game. And because we have BMO field around, we got see some of the others in that Canada-Argentina. Also, I wouldn't doubt for moment that, because of the factors I mentioned ( TFC, V-Cup, BMO field), the coaches and selectors also have a better read and evaluation of the talent. You can assess talent much better when they here and you see them play rather than the " out of mind out of sight" reaches of development teams and reserves team of smaller clubs in europe. devioustrevor
So it's Saturday the important stuff starts, am I right? Too bad that it doesn't seem like the referees have been announced or assigned to games yet. Frankly I'd prefer to know which countries are providing the Match Officials for our games so we'd have a rough idea of what to expect in the way of sketchy officiating. jpg75
For some perspective on the job the CSA is doing, US Soccer doesn't even have any mention of this game on their site.

They also never mentioned the 5-2 loss to our U17s (B team or not). Maybe they just ignore us or just the not so good results?
Lord Bob
Yeah, the Americans have been happy to gloss over negative results small enough to be ignored for years now. Say what you will about the CSA (god knows I have), but they're miles ahead of the Americans in a few regards.

Even counting our North American cup win in the early 90s as unofficial. I am not surprised they didn't mention the result as they try to brainwash fans

These are friendlies....everyone in camp is going to get a shot to strut their stuff. The roster to analyze will be the roster that Fonseca trots out later this week when this tournament starts for real.
