Joe MacCarthy
Saw this posted on Off the Pitch and an interesting name popped out. Take it for what it's worth (Joe Mac) Men's U17 World Cup Preparations New post by GKDaddy on Sun Feb 08, 2009 http://offthepitch.ca/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=5617 Hey Everyone, here is the recent list of players called to the U17 Men's Natl. They do announce the women’s camp in California and the U20's off to Florida. But nothing about the roster or the planned training for these guys. youllneverwalkalone
Any chance Hargreaves and Fernandes have brothers who will play for us? There seems to be a pattern here.

devioustrevor
So 4 teams automatically qualify for the U-17 WC in Nigeria. So two from each group. I don't mean to imply we look past Cuba, but in all likelyhood the April 21st game against Honduras is the game that will probably decide our fate. If we beat Honduras since we will probably also beat Cuba that should qualify us. I've been checking out the qualifying for the U-17 WC and good god was Asia's qualifying all screwy. 8 different nations were disqualified and 5 nations withdrew before games were played. Then there is the fact that Singapore qualified out of Group E which was played in China while Group G qualifying games were played in Singapore. Also, due to the fact 3 teams in Group G withdrew beforehand and North Korea was disqualified after qualification for using overage players that there were only two eligible teams in Group G, and Group G was designated after the original draw to have two teams Qualify for the Asian U-16 tournament (which is the AFC's U-17 qualification tournament). So despite losing both games they did actually play and not scoring a goal, Malaysia got to go to the AFC U-16 Championship. India qualifying ahead of Saudi Arabia was a bit of a surprise too. Guest Jeffery S.
quote:Originally posted by youllneverwalkalone Any chance Hargreaves and Fernandes have brothers who will play for us? There seems to be a pattern here. Dani told me his little brother was given a trial at Oporto I believe, no more word on that though, it was maybe 2 years ago, he was u-17 or younger I think. No idea what position he played, will enquire.
loyola
Well, it's official now, Hoillet will participate in this camp: http://www.canadasoccer.com/eng/media/viewArtical.asp?Press_ID=3500 Good schedule as well, one NCAA opponent and 3 international friendlies vs USA and Guatemala (2). Kule Kambere must be parent with Diaz.

ag futbol
Total side note (and i know it's only one camp) but any news on where Allando Matheson is? I'd assume he'd factor in as he's one of the better prospects for TFC at this level. Any chance this is him as well ?
Keegan
I'd say that is definitely him in the video. Check the comment it looks like he left too... haha
bettermirror
I hope that Kule Kambere doesn't play for the Surrey United team I was watching on Sunday play a Metro game against North Shore. They were shocking and could barely make 2 passes under N.S.'s pressure. Not sure if it was a Metro A or B game, appeared to be A. To be honest, it does give me great pleasure though to see a couple players from the local top youth league on the team!

Ivan
From the CSA site, the U17s tied the U of South Florida 1-1 on Monday. Playing the USA U17s as I type.

That's a good result against the Big East Champions and who went to the Elite 8 in the NCAA tournament. USA U-17 are coming back from South America where they went 3-0-1 with wins over Chile, Peru and Ecuador and a tie against Ecuador. This should be a tough test. loyola
Canada won 5-2 against the USA. Apparently, this was the USA "B" team since they had 40 players in camp with the A group going to South America. Hoillet scored for us! Good result! http://www.canadasoccer.com/tourney/FIFA_WC/game_profile.asp?gameId=1699&sub=
An Observer
good to see we can handle a USA B team quite easily...and also seems we were down 2-1 at one stage can came back with 4 unaswered goals.
Keegan
Wow excellent result. US is always pretty deep so you know this was a good result. And didnt this U17 US team beat NYRB?
Lord Bob
Hey, B-team or no B-team, there's no wrong way to get a three-goal win against the Americans. Hopefully they'll learn a lesson and send us the good squad next time!
