jonovision Posted February 7, 2009 Share Posted February 7, 2009 Canada has some quality in midfield, but not a lot of depth. We saw this in Edmonton against Mexico when we had a shockingly successful midfield of Harmse, Stalteri, Bernier, and de Jong/Pozniak. I would rate Johnson ahead or equal with most of these (I know they don't all play exactly the same position). Martyr Posted February 7, 2009 Share Posted February 7, 2009 Just finsihed watching the 2nd half of the BMG vs. Hoffenheim match on bwin.com. Hoffenheim equalized in the 88th minute to make it 1-1. Gladbach tried valiantly to get the win during the 3 min of added time but it wasn't to be. Friend and Stalteri lasted the full 90. It was difficult sometimes to know if they were involved in much of the play as the video was quite small and there was no play by play. Friend had a lot of high balls lobbed his way. His primary job seemed to be to bring these down for others to finish - and I don't think his teammates brought their finishing boots with them today. Very scrappy game altogether. Stalteri did have a chance about midway through the 2nd half that he put over the bar. He definitely seemed to be more of a midfielder in this match. PS - N/A congrats on the milestone post! They are still back of Standard in the title race. Lierse could only draw scoreless away to Oostende, famous as the European hideaway of Marvin Gaye, with Radz playing 90. They are tied with Sant Trond now at the top of the 2nd division though the rivals have a game in hand. Both are looking good for promotion. A win would have been a better and more expected result but Depor remains in the hunt for a UEFA CL spot (only 4 points out of 3rd place). Bernier played 90 and Issey was subbed out m. 62 for a certain Andreas Laudrup as Nordsjaelland fell at home 0-1 to Halmstad in a preseason friendly. Andreas is Michael's son, was at Real Madrid youth but moved to be closer to family. His older brother also plays in Denmark, while his cousin Nicolai, Brian's kid, is playing in 2nd tier Denmark.
