Rivaldo
http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Soccer/Canada/2009/01/31/8217841-sun.html An article by Morris Della Costa that basically says Canada's Men's soccer is doomed to fail.
youllneverwalkalone
Good article. I agree 100%. As do many Vs who have posted these same thoughts here.
BringBackTheBlizzard
Having lived in London, Ont. for most of my adult life I can tell you that Morris Dalla Costa's columns are usually best avoided. He has exhibited a marked tendency to launch into diatribes against soccer players and fans in the London Free Press over the years probably to try to show how well assimilated he is. Having said that, however, I think the OP doesn't accurately describe what he is saying in this column:- There is talent at the men's level of soccer in this country but for many of the current group of players, hope for immediate success is gone. With the same administration in place, the same ideas in place, and the lack of sustainable funding, changes won't come quickly enough to help the senior national program and its current players. If there is any good news, it's that Canada is producing more talented young players than ever before and things may be better for them ... if those in charge of the sport finally get the message.
