It will be interesting in April to see how the respective academy sides of TFC and the Whitecaps do in the Dallas Cup Super Group...they will go up against some formidable sides from around the world

Famed Italian Club AC Milan will send the cream of their youth talent to compete in the Super Group (U19) at Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXX to be held at Pizza Hut Park Stadium/complex and Richland College Soccer Complex April 5-12, 2009. AC Milan is returning to the tournament for the first time since 1997 when they played in Dallas Cup XVIII. Joining Sao Paulo (Brazil), River Plate (Argentina), Manchester City (England), Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany), Tigres and CF Monterrey (Mexico), Vancouver Whitecaps and Toronto FC (Canada), Urawa Red Diamonds (U18 Champions of Japan), Andromeda SC (US National U17 Champions) & Dallas Texans (Classic League U19 Champions) the Italian club completes the 12 team Super Group.

Isn't the TFCA much younger than the Whitecaps edition? Teibert and Cobby were two of the main cogs of the TFCA team that qualified for the Super Group out of last year's SUM Tournament. They are two of the youngest players with the Caps Res. Surprised they are in the same group.

^ The 12 teams are split into 3 groups so they're not likely to be playing each other.

The d.o.b cut-off for this tourny is Aug 1st 1989, so expect TFC to likely be represented by the U18 squad of 91's with some of the best 92's thrown in. This won't be the same group of kids (U16/'92) that finished 2nd in the SUM Cup last summer. Vancouver on the other hand are mostly 90's (the GK Simon Thomas is an 89) with a few 91 and 92's.

The Dallas Cup is as good as its gets for the boys teams.

Few North American tournaments can compare, let alone compete.

I've been attending every year for the past 9 assisting a couple of NCAA programs with scouting.

My first trip to the Dallas Cup was in the late 80's; it just keeps getting better.

Some quality football.

If ever presented with an opportunity to drop in and watch - DO IT!

If ever presented with an opportunity to participate in it. GO!
