Has Miami gotten their MLS approved already?

FC Barcelona has received a MLS draft contract for the franchise in Miami, sent from the United States, which is being studied by the legal services of the club. It is expected that by mid-February, maybe before the 15th, made the agreement official. Franchising Barça will be effective for 2010.

Barça board members are very cocky about this, so leaking info to the press. The press too is very confident it will go through, very little cynicism or criticism. Mind you, the team is doing so well the board can get away with anything, and the press has given them the benefit of the doubt.

Now if we don't eliminate Espanyol tonight, the song may change.

Spiral, just curious what gives you that impression? Neither team has a guaranteed stadium or very strong financial backing.

not to mention the man championing an mls team in portland got caught banging 18 year olds.

Troll alert on all Spiral posts :(

And who says Miami coming in in 2010 means Van is out? It could mean Philli is delayed. Caps are in for 2011. Kerfoot, Nash, Mallett as owners, a local rival for Seattle, stadium ready and on and on. It is just too much to pass up. Garber has said unpleasant things about all the bids except Miami and Vancouver.

Philly is a lock for 2010. The Stadium is financed and being built in Chester on the waterfront next to the I 95 bridge.

Funny though how Philly and now Miami enter both in 2010. The MLS never said that would happen.

Seattle enters this year as # 15. Philly is 16 and Miami is now 17.

With two more in 2011 that brings us to 19 teams.

Does 19 being an odd number offer scheduling irregularities?

It is entirely possible that you have excellent sources...however, to say that Philly is a lock to kick off the season in 2010 seems a bit over confident.

They are still having politcal issues with members of the Delaware County executive. I sincerely doubt any significant construction progress has been made.

it would not surprise me in the least if Philly bumps back its entry into MLS to 2011.

Barça coming in for 2010 is simply because they are ready. They see no reason to wait before getting some of the investment back and want to get going on the project by selling it to the near future.

FCB Miami is the easiest name and let's them combine merchandising.

  • 2 weeks later...

Their bid has OBVIOUSLY been accepted otherwise he would'nt be talking about it like that...

So what the hell is Garber going to do, shake the hands of the guy for a photo opp and talk like that and then turn around and boot them in the mouth and tell them they're being rejected?
