TFC vs York U

Back to Basics

Recommended Posts

As I was given word that Head Coach of York Carmen Issaco, won't be coaching Italia Shooters this summer I was also told that York U will being playing TFC's first team Sunday, February 1st at the OSA. The time hasn't been confirmed and I'm not yet aware if its open to the public. When I do I'll be sure to post.

Any predictions on the match? Considering that this York side has mulitple players from the Shooters team that destroyed the TFC reserves during the summer. I say 4-2 York:D

Just a quick comment - last season, Italia Shooters reserve team was playing more first team players as if their focus was to win the reserve division. So destroing 16 years old kids competing against CSL players is very "nice" record.

anybody I met who said they played for the York team (and could well be lieing) seemed completely useless at everything but monkey tricks. They'd warm up by kicking the ball to themselves as confidently as Zidane but would be completely counter productive as far as playing went, like completely lost out there, and then after two hours, they'd finally get a tap in and look around or say something like they finally showed who's the best after two hours of ****e. I hope for York's sake those kids are liars.

The Shooters played a training match against the senior TFC reserve squad and beat them 4-1 - I#65533;m pretty sure that#65533;s what Back to Basics is referring to in his original post.

The TFC reserve squad may have been experimenting with a new formation, trying out players in different positions etc. You shouldn't read too much into something like that. I know of two amateur clubs in London, Ont. who were able to beat USL-D1 (back when it was the A League) and CSL (the 1987-1992 version) teams in games like that.

July, I certainly have no clue who said that they are clearly a talented team. Only one loss the entire season ( the defaults don't count) the national champions and a class team. Perhaps you should visit the CIS website and watch the telecast off there games because I don't know who in there right mind said there terrible. If the results don't proove enough, look at there roster just by the names. Pena (csl rookie of the year) Whiteman (Canadian u-20,u-17) Bruno(former u-20,cis & oua mvp) karim (former u-20) Ladiyou (CIS championship MVP) Smith ( former oua&cis rookie of the year, and tfc hopeful)!!!!! Need I go on about the depth of these team. For footnotsaysoccer I was speaking when the shooters team played tfc reserves and thumped them 6-2. As for there academy what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger and they certainly hung in there. I can also now assure you it's the first team they will be playing.

I went to 3 shooter reserve games 2 against TFC and the shooters had an under 17 team playing both times so I don't think your info is accurate about using only first team players.

Angelo, with all my respect to dedicated fans coming from Edmonton to Toronto to watch reserves playing, I wasn't even going to comment on anything until I saw statements leading people to think that one team was so good and played a fair game (all reserve players) and that it was destroying TFC anytime they played etc. If you want to bet and loose me a ticket to Edmonton then I can come and watch some of your local games for free :D But do this first - go to OSA (Vaughan) and find CSL office (second floor), ask for game sheets and see the names of the players.

Was this the game that was the subject of this thread?

A group of U-16 Academy trialists beat UofT 3-2 by the sounds of things. I haven't seen York U recently so can't comment on them but most UWO games I have watched over the years have tended to be closer to 1st division level in WOSL (London, Ont's top local amateur league) terms than premier, in my opinion, so although there are certainly some very good players involved in elite amateur terms I don't think CIS level soccer is usually something to get too excited about in terms of finding future pro level players.
