loyola
Wow, I didn't know Tahiti had qualified for the tournament. Very impressive stuff. Here's a good article about the Tahiti team, coached by France 1998 third keeper Lionnel Charbonnier, and the Oceania qualification tournament. http://www.fifa.com/u20worldcup/news/newsid=982815.html#islanders+egyptian+jackpot Congrats to them! N-A
Yeah I noticed it and had to check the results to make sure I was seeing the correct results. Good Luck to Tahiti in the Finals.
tarnado1555362291
Ghana I believe has qualified from CAF already. I'm assuming they get a buy to the semis as group A winners. Alberto7
Huge Upset: Argentina loses their final game and DO NOT qualify for the 2009 U-20s. Remember they were U-20 world Champions the last two editions.

Canuck Oranje
Agreed. I doubt Venezuela will do much but I think Paraguay will be the sleeper. quote:Originally posted by amacpher They stunk!!
red card
FIFA has to stop providing automatic bids for OFC in the lower age groups - there's no way Tahiti should ever make it to a world tourney - only saving grace is that we don't get to see boring New Zealand again and again. If you go with that logic there's no way CONCACAF should have 4 spots as well. I think FIFA wants to give a fair chance to everyone for that tournament (that's why Europe has fewer spots). amacpher
But if Mexico moved to CONMEBOL it would be fair to reduce the # of qualifying spots for CONCACAF to no more than 3.5. So I think a similar thing should've been done in OFC.
bettermirror
Argentina failed to qualify! Wow. How many coaches did they go through!?!?!?

And Sergio Batista is still the coach despite missing out on qualifying. Guess that's what an Olympic Gold will do for your credibility.
bettermirror
Wow, they may actually be holding players accountable in this case as opposed to the coach! When is the last time this happened....certainly not in North American memory.
