Lordsnooty
Does a great goal scored on television against the #4 team in England help one's career prospects? Stimson states he wouldn't sell for 1 million sterling! What an incredible advancement if Simeon were to end up in the CCC next season (as he's linked to...who else...Ipswich Town) Wouldn't that be 4 levels in 2 seasons? GILLINGHAM manager Mark Stimson believes he will be able to hang on to striker Simeon Jackson until the end of the season despite interest from other clubs. The 21-year-old scored his 12th goal of the season against Aston Villa on Sunday and has been linked with a move up two divisions to Ipswich Town. Stimson last month declared he would not sell his top scorer for £1 million. The Gills boss conceded he could be in for a fight at the end of the season if Jackson continues his form, but is confident he will not even receive any bids during the January transfer window
youllneverwalkalone
It would sort of be 4 levels in 2 seasons, except that he started at R&D in League Two, and then at Gillingham in League One. A glass half empty might say that he's gone nowhere in 3 seasons. But that goal was pure class and I was totally impressed with his pace.
Bertuzzi44
Stimson made the £1 million comment well before Jackson's goal against Villa. But that goal can't hurt, that's for sure.

Toronto MB
It's true, Stimson's comments came before Jackson upped his stock even further by scoring against Villa. Stimson's remarks also lead me to believe that he is simply starting a bit of a bidding war by stating he 'wouldnt even take a million'. Those who know English football will know that Gillingham is not a big club and that should any club come knocking with anything close to 1 Million Pounds: the chairman will almost certainly chose to sell Simeon. I am personally skeptical of whether or not Simeon is actuall ready for the Championship. If you look at how Gerba and Hume have been achieving as far more accomplished strikers than Jackson at this point, I'm not quite ready to belive he is ready to start game in and game out at that level. That being said, Jackson is closing down that important period of development for a striker of his stature and pace. If he is going to reach a 2nd tier level in Europe he needs to do it soon. I also agree with some comments in the Canadians Abroad thread that were expressing how Simeon's pace and style would make him an ideal pair with Rob Friend as the target man. Anyways, I'm just at Pearson about to fly back over to London, so I will look forward to catching a Gillingham game soon and I will be sure to share some info on his progress. trueviking
that little guy runs around like his ass is on fire! it was hilarious to watch him all game against that 6'-6" tall defender...he was a good foot taller, but simeon was giving him fits. he's 21...take the chance on moving up as high as possible if the chance arises....speed can overcome a lack of refined skill at this point. i find it hard to believe that his team wouldnt take a million pounds...they could buy 5 of him and still have 250 left over. man i love this stage of the FA cup...some of these games are hilarious...just watched blackburn against some blue square north team in a stadium that usually holds 500 people...their manager is the caretaker at the high school...they put up a good fight...any other sport and the game would be a joke. Toronto MB
Here is the latest on Jackson. Gills manager is hoping to keep Simeon at Gillingham until the end of the season. canucklefan
I think he proved that he is worth of EPL level, but the reality is that he will probably play in League 1 or Championship. If that's the case he should play with a team with good chances to be promoted.
Keegan
So in one game he went from being a League 2 player to EPL quality and jumped ahead of every striker except maybe Friend on the Canada depth chart? Must have scored a hat trick vs. Man U to do that!!

I was expecting this kind of call, and I mantain my position, there players like Jeremie Aliadiere (now playing for Middlesbrough) who made his debut in the 2001/02 season but scored his first ever EPL goal last year. We are talking about a striker here. I believe Simeon can do better than Aliadiere.
ken
Following one of the links on the footy show blog they have a list from The Independant of the top 20 players not in the premiere league, Simeon doesn't make it, but he is on oneof the subsidiary lists as the #2 in the league 2. It seems that he is getting some attention.

tmcmurph
Pace, touch and power. It will be interesting to see him develop and hopefully show what he can do against better teams.
Gordon
At 21, I hope he goes for the highest level team that comes calling and competes for a starting spot rather than taking a more certain gig at a lower level club. Soccer players don't develop incrementally and the sooner he finds his natural level the better.
