hodgkiss
hey guys, seeing we have a quite a few members now and growing, i think it's time that we all pitch in and buy the largest canadian flag we can buy. the largest i have seen that we can buy is 20' x 40'. it is available at http://theflagstore.ca/product.php?CategoryID=5&startrecord=25. the price is about $2000 but i have spoken to the in the past and talked about the "voyageurs" - a traveling supporters club for canadian soccer and the president there said she would give us a nice break (i believe 30%) so we would be looking at about $1400 or so... i'm just so sick of playing these games at home and having the "away" supporters with their massive flags in our face. it's about time we get one. is there anything else that maybe we can purchase as a group? i.e. megaphones, other banners/flags etc...? what do you guys think about me organizing this and setting up a "fund" through paypal? if we could each chip in $5 x 300 people - that would cover the cost. and if someone wanted to keep the flag i have no problems with that. maybe vpjr? or it can travel around depending on the venue daniel in montreal. fury in winnipeg etc... let me know on here and if teh response is good, i will set up the paypal account. -hodgkiss happy holidays! canada to world cup 2014! squid2
Good idea. I'll contribute towards a HUGE flag. Thank you for volunteering and taking the initiative. Is it possible that you confirm the price, shipping, etc., from the source. My .02$ is a firm price, for a transaction to occur prior to a specific time period, would guide and aid the fundraising effort. It just tightens things up; loose ends around here just prompt endless and pointless discussions.
cfof
I would totally be down with that.
Tuscan
Absolutely, it'd be nice to have something ridiculously massive to pull out for both the home AND away matches (Gold Cup 2009 if anyone makes the trip).
Mazha
Count me in! But just let me know of the best way to deliver fundage. If we were TRUE supporters we'd ALL contribute ; AND even send out written verses of our "OH CANADA" anthem to sing out Loud an Strong at EACH and EVERY venue! What a concept! massimo
I'd contribute to that, no problem. As long as it goes towards the flag
BrennanFan
a big flag is well and good, but for the next games i'd rather see something like this on a 20' x 40' banner
CanadasBest
A huge Canada flag of our own would be good for next Qualifying... Until then I agree with Brennanfan that we should keep the pressure on the CSA for the next 3 years. Regardless of the results we should protest every match until World Cup Qualifying for 2014. Unless there are serious changes from the top down I fear we won't be qualifying anytime before the year 2100.
hodgkiss
well picture the few supporters that make it down to the gold cup with a massive canadian flag that takes up a bunch of the (empty seats) in these large stadiums. putting the csa aside for a moment - picture the players looking over and seeing the size of that flag. it may give them that extra boost they need to take them a little further along. (as long as the officials don't make any lousy calls)
