TORONTO LYNX ANNOUNCE OPEN TRYOUTS FOR W-LEAGUE, PDL AND SUPER Y-LEAGUE TEAMS

The Toronto Lynx Soccer Club announced their open tryout opportunities for the 2009 season today. Both the Lynx in the PDL and Lady Lynx in the W-League qualified for the playoffs in 2008 and will look to build upon that success to reach even greater heights in 2009. Head Coaches Duncan Wilde (Lynx) and Danny Stewart (Lady Lynx) will be looking for elite local soccer talent to supplement the returning veteran players in three trial sessions over the December holidays. The Lynx will hold sessions on December 22 and December 29 at the Rink City Sportsplex in Mississauga while the Lady Lynx will host potential players on December 21 at the AC Milan Sports Centre in Vaughan. Interested players should contact Rob Irwin, Director of Operations at 416-251-4625 x 23 or via email at rirwin@lynxsoccer.com.

The Toronto Lynx Junior Academy program will hold their open trial sessions over the same time frame as they prepare for their 2009 Academy and Super Y-League seasons. The Toronto Lynx Juniors will be looking to improve on their best-ever season in 2008. The U20 Lynx Men reached the Super 20-League North American final only to fall just short, losing 2-1 to Chicago Fire Premier in one of the most exciting games of the year, and the U20 Lady Lynx Women also reached the North American Finals in their first season, reaching the group stage. Both the U15 and U17 Boys reached the North American Super Y-League Finals in Tampa in November to give the Lynx Juniors four playoff teams in the season.

All Lynx Juniors teams have been registered once again to compete in the Midwest division of the Super Y-League, in addition to competing in a full schedule of tournaments and college showcase events. The Lynx will enter teams in the Score at the Shore Showcase in Florida, the Jefferson Cup in Richmond Virginia, the Dallas Cup and the AC Milan Continental Cup in Cleveland Ohio amongst other elite North American Events. Full details of all events and participating age groups will be outlined by the Toronto Lynx Juniors staff at the trial sessions.

The club will also maintain its affiliation with Bolton Wanderers FC of the English Premier League, with the first official Academy visit to the Reebok Stadium scheduled for March Break in 2009.

"We had a fantastic year in 2008." said Coach Wilde. "We had multiple teams qualify for playoffs, a North American final and over a dozen players selected for the Olympic Development Camps in Florida. This just further confirms that our program continues in the right direction. We are opening our doors over the December holidays for interested players and parents to review our program with a view to future participation with us."
