CoachRich
It's comparable as the USA model doesn't have the States in it.
Vic
There are a couple of things you can take from that. One of the main ones is they franchise out a lot of rec and amateur to specific organizations.
CoachRich
Yes that is true but each of those org's has a state/regional office as well. That is why they can offer more specific (as you say) services targeted to the needs of the players in their club/district for some/state/national model. Also, it makes id'ing players in the right environment easier too & to funnel them upwards or across for the players & systems benefit. BC has a really interesting history of how BCSA (PSO) was formed & how they vote. Hopefully Richard will stop bye as he has details. BC & maybe the some of the other provinces all do things different is one of the reasons why we have protectionism.
L.T.
The big difference is that in the U.S., under each major area (Pro, Youth, Adult etc) there are multiple organizations that cater to different needs (i.e. recreational, elite) where as in Canada they all point back to one organization - the PSOs... Richard
^ And the PSOs jealously guard their power and influence.
CoachRich
Ranting again, there is nothing to stop Clubs/Districts across the country from doing what the US has but doing it below the PSO. Don't Districts control the PSO? Comes down to Clubs/District getting together & putting aside their difference for the kids & game.
Richard
^ Good luck, why do you think BC with 160,000 registered players has more districts than Ontario with 500,000 players? Numbers are approximate, don't remember exactly what they are.
