squid2
update on the Hermann Trophy my 3 finalists are colour coded. The winner will be announced in January. Here's the list from a Soccer America email. Semifinalists Andre Akpan, Jr, Harvard Cody Arnoux, Jr, Wake Forest Alejandro Bedoya, Sr, Boston College Jovan Bubonja, Jr, UIC, SERBIA (One of three finalists, and a keeper to boot!) Gen A vs Europe? Sam Cronin, Sr, Wake Forest Doug DeMartin, Sr, Michigan State Omar Gonzalez, Jr, Maryland Andrei Gotsmanov, Sr, Creighton Mike Grella, Sr, Duke Chris Pontius, Sr, UC Santa Barbara, USA (3rd finalist, it's between Pontius and Bubonja) Brad Ring, Jr, Indiana Chris Salvaggione, Sr, Charlotte Marcus Tracy, Sr, Wake Forest O'Brian White, Sr, Connecticut Steve Zakuani, So, Akron ENGLAND (2 of the three finalists, Leading scorer, but not enough of a player) Bet on him heading back to England when he graduates. my $.02, ... not sure how Jeremy Hall, Jr, Maryland, didn't make the list - but look for him on the Gen A list. He's good; he's ready to make the move from the NCAA. Not Edu quality but is probably very close. He was teammates with Edu when Edu went GA and they remain in touch. He also has Cirovski's encouragement to follow Edu's path. If I had a vote it would be Jovan Bubonja. Suffice to say, all the seniors will be on the combine list, meaning they will be draft eligible. SeanKeay
Ive heard that Jovan may actually stay another year in College, he seperated his shoulder and cant goto any trials or the combine this year. Also, ive gotten a decent word that Zakuani is really looking to make the jump to the MLS, ive only seen 5-10 min snippest of him on youtube and game highlites but he looks like a very smart player. squid2
Officially, the 3 finalists are: Sam Cronin, Wake Forest (Sr), Midfield, Winston-Salem, NC Marcus Tracy, Wake Forest (Sr), Forward, Newtown, CT Steve Zakuani, Akron (So), Forward, London, England My keeper's out. So I think it comes down to the best player (of the three) right now, Tracy, vs. the top scorer, Zakuani. Flip a coin ... I'm picking Zakuani.
