Vic
" a deliberate attempt to injure an opponent" So he was just throwing his elbow in his direction to do what? What I mentioned before was that the non-soccer part of this is the most tragic. He could well suffer from it off the field for it the rest of his life. Cheeta
quote:Originally posted by manutd1 Does anyone know the approximate chances of Ian being able to play again after this type of injury? Are there any precedents? He's done this season. That at least is a given. Cech came back and none the worse by his play but I think he's the exception and not the rule. A result of the improvements in the medical arts over the years along with the AAA medical attention multi-million dollar athletes receive now a days. Tough to say. Take Greg Sutton as an example. Once he started feeling himself after that injury in '07 it was still quite a while before he could stress his body without everything going funny on him. Day to day stuff no problem. Training BIG problem. Can only imagine how this is going to play out for Hume. He sure got the Mother of all Concussions.
peachgrinder
Richard Starnes blog from the Ottawa Citizen weighs in on the situation (first link). Not much new, but the article in today's paper was much lengthier (second link). http://communities.canada.com/ottawacitizen/blogs/beautifulgame/default.aspx http://www.ottawacitizen.com/recovering+hume+eager+back+game/1070581/story.html
