What if Mary does not want to move up because she likes the players she is playing with now (friends) and is afraid that the older girls will resent her success (it happens)? Remember these are 12 or 13 year old girls that are trying to make up their minds on what they want.

I personally know of two cases where gifted players made opposite decisions. One elected to stay with her friends and never developed further (and is happy with her choice today.) One who played on a boys team a year older but then got passed over by the provincial program because no one had scouted her. Today she is playing at a high level of on a senior women team while former provincial players have stopped playing. the game.

So Mary and her family make a choice.. do you expect to hit it right a hundred percent of the time when your children make choices ?

Better to decline the oppourtunity then never have it give to you .. if your second case the player had been moved up to more suitable girls level she would have been seen..in her case she made choice to get to more competitive level the fact your Manitoba people did not know about her cant be solved.

If you look in ontario London has girls teams regularly playing in boys leagues up to age twelve for development purposes the teams dont win but the players do .. forming the nucleus of successful teams play for Ontario Cup but never being in the Ontario top girls league.

Different paths.
