mtl-supporter23
There are mixed report that temperature will drop to below 0 and possibility of snow. Right now its pouring rain and a little under 10 degrees. Either way advantage- Montreal However for some players on Montreal this will also be their first time playing in such conditions. Gonna be a thriller !!!!
youllneverwalkalone
If anybody out here knows or cares, I wonder if game will be per the CBC schedule and replay at 9PM PST, or replay at 12AM? The last match was listed at 9PM, but didn't play till midnight. F-ucking useless CBC. Though I do love this portal for observing the Canadian psychotic fear of manifest destiny. I was watching Bon Cop, Bad Cop the other day and they kept showing adds for this crap show called "The Border" whose premise is a small Canadian town "voting" to become part of the USA. F-uck me. Good luck Ultras!

the biologist
Lunch break for me now, and I checked the forecast update at 2 pm on the MeteoMedia site and it goes as follows: 5°C - 80 % Light rain (1-3 mm) - NE 40 km/h winds - 93% humidity So basically the same as this morning according to Kurosawa's post. I saw that too but in one of the Honduran newspapers on-line: http://www.tiempo.hn/. the biologist
Found on Wikipedia about Benito Archundia: He is regarded as one of the top referees in the world, having officiated in five matches during the 2006 FIFA World Cup, including one of the semi-finals. He was also the referee in the 2005 FIFA Club World Championship final match between São Paulo FC and Liverpool FC. And, most interestingly: Archundia made his first World Cup appearance in the 2006 FIFA World Cup and refereed a total of five matches, equaling the most number of matches by an individual referee (along with Argentina's Horacio Elizondo). His final game was the semi-final between Germany and Italy, and he was widely praised for an excellent job in controlling the match. In general he was the most lenient referee at the 2006 World Cup, giving out an average of only 3 cards per game (the lowest of any referee at the competition). Are there really some people who agree with that BS ??? Lenient referee ? After the ridiculous call against Watson ? After the ridiculous "dangerous kick" call against Occean ? After the Hutchinson offside call ? After he called time right after the call ? Well, that's just Wiki after all...
loyola
Well, Benito had an excellent WC in 2006. He was very good in that semifinal between Italy and Germany. I would agree with what was said in his Wiki page. On the other side, his performance in 2004 in Edmonton was criminal at best...

the biologist
I watched the game (that loyola's referring to) but I sincerely don't remember how well he fared in this one since at that time I wasn't interested in the sport as I'm now and I didn't notice he was THE referee for the 2004 game. That being said, when they say that he "[gave] out an average of only 3 cards per game (the lowest of any referee at the competition)", how's that a great feat AUTOMATICALLY ??? I like Hockey, Soccer, Football, Baseball and a bit Basketball. And I can tell you that whatever the sport, I have seen so many "lenient" referees who were total crap, the tree by my window doesn't have enough leaves to count'em all. Whether a referee is "very lenient" or "totally not lenient" doesn't make him de facto a great one, neither a bad one. So my point is primo, maybe he's lenient at times (understand "when he finds himself under all the spotlights of the world"), but sometimes he's not, and secundo, I could agree that he may have been one of the best in the 2006 WC, but I disagree with arguments like "because he was the most lenient" and "he only called 2 fouls per game" etc. Time to go back to work now. See y'all tonight (those who unfortunately can't attend the game like me).
Grizzly
Oh ****. Archundia is the guy who always seems to be on the Honduran payroll. He was actually one of the best refs in the last WC which shows he is a corrupt ref not a incompetent one.

Well close games are the dangerous ones for officiating and call me crazy but I feel this one won't be dangerous. I think Olimpia are going to be frozen stiff, pissed off about it, and playing a bit desperate so their already suspect defensive organization may be even more porous That's my extremely objective and sober analysis. Keano
I was worried a lot of Hondurans might come given that A) a lot of them came for the WCQ debacle and Olimpia is an old, successful Honduran brand that a lot of them support. However I really can't see any but the absolute hardcore Olimpia fans who are locally based actually turning up with the weather. Hope I'm right. Tuscan
I was wondering about that too, as the Hondurans certainly turned out en force for the WCQ. Hopefully the cool temperature and possible rain will see the stadium filled with hardcore Ultras mostly, really give the boys a boost. Should be a good one tonight, going to have to catch the replay at midnight.

Downtown on St. Catherine's in the subterranean mall system there was a really tourist store. They were like $2.00 each or something.
