So if this contingency rumour does indeed become true does this mean that 2 teams will still be selected for 2011? Will Philly re-enter their bid? Do Vancouver and Portland become the front runners? Or will it be one east and one west with either Vancouver/Portland and Miami getting the nod?

So many questions.

At a Barça press conference yesterday on the subject they confirmed that they were not putting up a cent of the 40 million franchise fee, it was all Claure (who they say is the wealthiest "hispanic" in the States). Barça was going to put their "know how" into the franchise, basically run it, and use it to strengthen their brand and market identity in North America.

They could not answer if the team would have the Barcelona or Barça name present, or the team colours.

The proposal has come in for criticism by ex board members who argue that it is a risk for the Barça brand and does not add anything positive to the club, is not in line with its basic philosophy. I personally don't think those are the real risks: the real worry is if the franchise can be successful establishing a solid fan base.

My guess is MLS will take every franchise willing to pay the fee.

Vancouver would make a great home for the CMNT, if most of our players played in asia.

Or in Canada!

My guess is they are waiting to see if Portland can get their stadium improvements approved. I think they will find out in early March if the city will give them the money or not. My guess is they have a 'Plan A' and 'Plan B' in the days that follow city council making that decision.
