Calgary Boomer
I find this amusing... http://www.canada.com/theprovince/news/story.html?id=0954d8c5-305a-4cf3-ba96-9871cb5f9af7 So, they have no problem partnering with an event that takes 2 weeks, while a life-long stadium proposal continues to be "back-burnered". Bill
has absolutely nothing to do with building a Stadium on the waterfront. Does not relate at all. Two different animals.
Bill
by the way when does the new Convention center open up?
Calgary Boomer
Not saying it has anthing to do with it you dolt. My point is, the Port is willing to do a deal and have a partnership with a HUGE sport organization. It's an event that lasts two weeks...a stadium stays there for a lifetime, and yet they're not willing to do a deal with the Whitecaps. I wonder if Mr McLachlan will be quoted as saying "The Port Authority IS in the public's Olympics interests".
Bill
The Whitecaps aren't in the same league as the Olympics in terms of worldwide attention
piltdownman
Its worse the port are sponsoring the Olympics. So not only are they cooperating, but they are giving them $3 million and $15 million as well.

March 15, 2009 is the target date, the real question is what will be the final cost? In July it was found out that the project had already cost $900m. It was budgeted at $500m. Richard
^ Plus convention business is way down. I predict we will have another white elephant on our hands.

I'm not so sure about the "white elephant" part of your assertion. While it is true that, on the whole, convention business is down, I'd be more worried if I were Regina, Kansas City, Cleveland, Raleigh, etc., than Vancouver.
