Given the bid .. what name would you suggest for a primary supporters group for the 2011 team launch ?

( Given they are not going on the North End of Preston.. Preston North End .. just wont work .. )

Hopefull the BC based folks will contribute .. even if they don't get to go forward with a bid.

MP's, Rideau FC, Ottawa National Capital Pioneers Football Club Ltd., Suburbia FC, Tulips Football Club (because the only thing better than roses on a piano is two lips on your organ), We Have A Canal FC, We're Bigger than Hamilton FC, No One Outside Canada has ever Heard of Ottawa FC. FC We're Not Toronto.

I would really love to see Ottawa get a team in MLS...especially if that stadium gets built. I hope they do, but I think it's a long shot.

Well Southsiders has a historical context in Ottawa for the other football, but would depend on how the stadium is aligned. I would forget the political names.Others: The Raftsmen, Rivermen, Valleyboys.

As someone who spent several years in Ottawa as a kid and enjoys Canadian military history I suggest something connected to the Rideau Canal. The canal was a strategic weapon against the threat of US military aggression and I have many fond memories of skating on the longest skating rink in the world for many winters.

Corktown Boys - a name that evokes the history of the city and those who built it. The working class that is the bedrock of football worldwide and a reminder to the rich owners that supporters are not for sale.

"Corktown was a squatters' camp on government land...", "the boistrous tent and lean-to shantytown inhabited by largely Irish workers who built the 200-kilometre long [Rideau]canal system during an intense six-year construction period between 1826 and 1832. French Canadian labourers also played an important role." source

Bytown Brigade - the original name of the town after the Army officer tasked with building the canal.

"Lieutenant Colonel John By of the Royal Engineers was assigned to supervise the construction. Colonel By faced a stiff challenge, to create a navigable waterway between the Ottawa River and Kingston, through what was at the time a wilderness of rough bush, swamps and rock terrain, funded by an incredibly stingy British Government." source
