Canuck in Boston
Not sure if this belongs here, but a colleague in our UK office, a Wycombe supporter, sent me this email today. Kind of funny and shows how far the MNT has come, or has it? Hi Malcolm, I remember you showing interest in the footballing career of Mark Rogers in the past. He was a guest at the Wycombe Wanderers game on Saturday. Came on the pitch at half time to have a chat with the fans. Seems he’s coaching football back home in Canada these days. I didn’t hear at what level though.. He didn’t look any older than he did in his playing days. He is still the only player to be an active “international” while playing for Wycombe Wanderers so remains in the hall of fame. Cheers, Martin
Martyr
I believe Mark is now a staff coach with British Columbia Soccer Association. I met him at their Coaching Conference at BC Place last Christmas. http://www.qysa.ca/Coaching_Soccer%20Clinics.aspx Although his name no longer appears on the online BCSA staff directory... but there is a vacancy in the Grassroots coach position. Perhaps he's just left.
Guest Ed
I was at the game when he got his first cap, 1-0 win over Panama in 2000 (qualifying for 2002 WC).
Regs
Sparky is now the head coach of the Tsawwassen Soccer Club. I believe he is playing for Delta Metro United in the FVSL Masters division as an underage (same squad as Paul Dolan).
