River City
I'm 4 chapters in and I've begun looking for signs in every soccer game I watch to see if it's fixed..... That Canadian backpass against Brasil in Seattle comes to mind......
Guest Ed
The author was on GolTV's Extra Time last night. Have you got to the Cdn content yet? PJ had no comment.

VPjr
I bought the book from Indigo. It will help me get through the 18 hour flight to China I need to take next month.

Guest Ed
He was also on 'The Hour' last night, no mention of the Singapore stuff though. He did say ... wait for it ... that a known big time hit man in NYC who ran a big sports book said he wouldn't take bets on the NHL in the mid-90's because of the Russian mob influence on Russian players in the NHL!!! VPjr
I just finished reading the book. great read. I HIGHLY recommend it. He documents so many examples of fixing, it makes your head spin. I hope it doesn't make me cynical ( or more cynical than I alreayd am )
Johnnyranger
I agree. What a read! I too have been looking at anything that comes out of the ordinary as a potential fix now. There are the unsubstantiated rumors swirling about the involvement of Match Fixers in the Semi Final and Final of last year's UEFA Cup right now that has me really scratching my head. How does Zenit st Petersburg (who are failry good side) rip Bayern to shreds the way they did, and then effectively have my Rangers lie down for them? Just because a disenchanted Russian mobster says something out of turn does not a controversy make, however the whole thing looked very weird to me, and of course, where there i smoke there is fire. This is why I don't want to read the book. I know its naive to think there is no match fixing in football, but I'd like to keep the beautiful game beautiful in my mind.
