nazzer
I was looking at the Impact's schedule and noticed that they have a game in Minnesota on the 20th and then a game at home against Puerto Rico on the 21st. Is this still happening like that? or have they simply not yet rescheduled the game against Puerto Rico yet. Also, the Impact will have played 9 games in 23 days in September!![:0]
Peter S
The Impact re-scheduled the Peurto Rico game from the 16th to the 21st, to make room for their Champions' League fixture against Atlante. I guess there was nowhere else to fit it in. This schedule is brutal, but it will be quite an experience for the team - they're playing well, and they just have to find a way to keep going for as long as they can. It's great to have Braz and soon Placentino back, that means we can pretty much field two almost completely different 11s if we have to. I don't know how long Biello and Leduc are out for though. Mpenza
We should just not travel to Minnesota. Just give them the win. We don't care of we're in the playoffs by then anyway.
Calgary Boomer
They'll still salvage the playoffs I'm sure. I guess this is why they have such a big squad.
Mpenza
Apparently, they need 2 points out of the last 4 games...
Lorne
The depth of the Montreal squad is fantastic. I watched them beat Portland with Gatti and di Lorenzo in central midfield on Monday. Big cudos to the team management for bringing in Brillant, Grande, Beyers, and Gregory over the last few weeks. Grande is very solid and Beyers is a complete revelation - what a great striker, powerful, quick and good techniquely. And I think that Weber will be starting in nets tonight, for his 4th start of the season.
Peter S
Looking at the USL's announced postseason format (http://www.uslsoccer.com/docs/postseason/usl1/USL1-Bracket.pdf) the Impact would play its quarter-final tie on the 23rd and the 28th of September. However, they have a Champions' League match on the 24th ... would the USL (and perhaps their opponents) agree to the QF being played on the 26th and the 28th? The Ssemi-final round is scheduled for Sept. 30th and Oct. 5th, so perhaps the Impact could play 26th and 29th in the QF, with the winner playing SF ties on October 4th and 7th, before the final on the 11th? I have no complaints with the schedule, as I'm thrilled to see the Impact have turned their season around, and also are discovering a depth to their squad. Plus matches every 3-4 days keeps the intensity as high as possible for the fans. However, perhaps next year the USL could add a week or two to its schedule, given the possibility of its clubs being in the CL?
DarnCherry
That post season format merely suggests that the teams would play the first round between the 23rd and the 28th, not exactly on those dates. I'll bet most teams will arrange to have their games on the 26th and 28th (Friday and Sunday).

Most USL teams choose to play Friday and Sunday playoff games, check previous years playoff dates. Easier to sell tickets to Friday and Sunday games, than earlier weekday games. Take a look at last years playoff brackets. All series were played withing 72 hours including travel: http://www.uslfans.com/2007playoffs.shtml Note: The clubs themselves decided on these playoff dates. I was under the impression that the playoffs dates were chosen by the league but the the higher ranked team decided when to play at home in the two dates selected. But I may be wrong. Sure it would make sense for a club like the Impact to play 72 hours apart and travel to Puerto Rico so they can sell more tickets...

The league sets a time guideline when the playoff games can occur. Once again, if you look at the link Peter provides, it doesn't say the first round games will be played on the 23rd and 28th it say they will be played on the 23rd-28th. The league can't set permanent dates for the games because stadiums aren't always available. The clubs usually choose the Friday and Sunday dates because as Kurosawa mentioned this is the USL. Outside of the Canadian teams the USL teams don't sell many playoff tickets. In years past when Rochester was averaging over 10,000 a game they were lucky to get half that in the playoffs. Mpenza
And despite the fact they could choose when to play they ALL played on the same dates in the first two rounds.
