where were all the Canadian fans in section 117

I thought that there were going to be alot of Canadian fans in section 117 but when I got there, it was all blue and white. What happened? We`ve been posting on this website for several weeks and I thought that the majority of Canadians would be in section 117. It looks like there was 80 percent of Honduran fans...very disappointing!! Overall in the whole stadium it looked like there were 60 percent of Honduran fans. Is it possible that we had some postings that were misleading and Honduran fans took advantage of the tickets available through this website? Should we start paying a membership fee to avoid this in the future?

I still believe in Canada moving forward but we need to do something about this.

My ticket said 117, but when I went up it was literally entirely Honduras, so I bailed for 114 when I saw there was room. Then some guy who seemed more Traveller than Voyageur came up twenty minutes late and insisted on having His Exact Spot which happened to shove me behind some other people who I couldn't escape until halftime.

But, anyway. The point of my rambling monologue is that I doubt I was alone; it was probably better to make a lot of noise in 114 than not much noise in 114 and 115 and 117.

too many Hondurians! way to many, cant the CSA limit tickets for the visiting team?????????? I was disgusted by that....It felt like if we were playing in San Padro Sula:(

Problem is TFC is supported very well by different support groups which in turn bought lots of tickets for the WCQ match. I guess the Impact just isn't at that point yet.

I say put some grass in there and host games out of TO only until other clubs/cities/etc get the proper support.

I agree, I never thought I say this one day but maybe Canada should play in Toronto! too late now due to te fact that the Mexico game is in Edmonton, maybe for the next WCQ

Should we not now edit this topic and simply remove 'in section 117'?

QFT

This thread should be renamed to "where were Canadian fans"?

114 looked like section with visiting fans, only red section in whole stadium.

It seems to me CSA knew it we will be outnumbered and gave our boys White visiting kit to feel even more as visitors in their own country.

Pathetic and very sad, after we set the bar in Toronto two weeks ago,I thought it can only be better from now on,how naive from me.

CMNT should play all official games in Toronto from now on,friendly games in other cities.

Of course the CSA can limit sales. They can offer up 15% of the stadium maximum and tell anyone who is a Honduran fan they can't be anywhere else unless of course they are buying in the highest price sections, which typically are highly mixed and include opposing team federation, etc.

This is done at every club in the world and by most national teams.

At Montreal giving Impact fans first bid on tix, then not letting any Hondurans coming from out of town buying in block to go anywhere else than the designated sections.

The stadium would have been 60-70% Canadian, a good part of that walk-up.

Point is that Canadians need to step up to plate. It was funny, we were stopped on a number of occasions after the game by passers by who were asking: " how did we do". Many of us started wondering where all these people were tonight.

There was nothing to stop locals from buying tickets.

Thank god for 114, which showed brilliant on TV. That was the only red I saw in the stadium. The Voyageurs were the only positive to come from this round of qualifying.

Regarding our sections, Admission had the code posted for days and people were reporting that they were selling tickets in these sections without any code. I knew 217 would be a right-off, but was hoping 117 would be solid. Then again, we had tons of people which bought tickets outside of our sections (again, due to Admission), which had a huge negative impact.

I wouldn't blame the CSA for playing in Montreal when the players were demanding it. If I recall correctly, everyone here was backing the players demands.

When we play important matches, there will always be a core of 4000-7000 opposing fans. These people are die-hards and will come from thousands of miles. We see it all the time. The problem with Montreal, is that takes half the stadium.

Toronto and Montreal are easily accessed by opposing fans. Opposition fans will number more in these two cities than they will in Edmonton.

Toronto was great for the last match, but let's not kid ourselves. That was one game. That was the first match of the semi-finals and optimism was abound. I don't think it would be anything like the jamaica match, if we moved the Mexico game to Toronto.

Don't be too hard on yourselves, you all did a great job in both cities. We were more organized then ever before and if it wasn't for the V's in 114, there would have been no red in the stadium.

How was the March in Montreal ?

The march was much smaller than in Toronto but that was expected; we made tons of noise going down St. catherine and then into the Metro. We got stopped at the Centre Eaton when their security guys wouldn't let us down the escalator to the Metro (first of a few incidents on the night which left a sour taste in my mouth). The ride in the Metro was awesome with everyone singing and jumping up and down and so was the march to Saputo. Inside the stadium, it was pathetic except for 114.

Setting aside the Voyageurs the problem with the support was that the average person out to support Canada was mostly quiet and sat on their ass the whole game while the average Honduran grandmother was wearing colours and jumping up and down. So even if the number were more in our favour it still would have looked lopsided for them.
