Obinna
Last years bronze medalists, St. Lawerence Laurentians, will be representing Newfoundland and Labrador once again this year. They are pooled with Saskatchwean, Ontario, British Columbia, and New Brunswick(the easier of the two groups in my opinon), so mabye a finals apperance is in the cards. ibrox
I think New Brunswick is being represented by Chaleur FC as Fredericton and Moncton did not bother to attend... How many you think St. Lawerence will put past them (These guys are a B team)
rdf
I think the Vegas line is the over/under is set at 6.5 for Nfld over NB's division 2 champs on opening night in front of about 5,000 +!! I mean come on NB - that's bush league. How can teams not want to go play in a national championship? Fredericton would have been competitive - they finished 6th last, including a tie with the Callies and had a respectable showing in the NSSL this year. ibrox
Alberta - Calgary Callies British Columbia - Gorge FC Manitoba - Hellas FC New Brunswick - FC Chaleur Newfoundland Labrador - St. Lawrence Labatt Laurentians Nova Scotia - Halifax City Colwell Bankers Ontario - Real Toronto Prince Edward Island - Avondale Islanders Quebec - Corfinium de St-Leonard Saskatchewan - Yorkton United There are the reps. Back to the previous post. I dont know, I don't even think Fredericton are that impressive. For some reason, they can beat good teams like Hfx City, or give Callies a run for their money. But when it comes to garbage teams, they suck. I don't know if its because of arrogance or they play to their level, but they are just downright terrible against lower end teams in the league. This is gonna be a bloody embarassment for NB.
Guest Ed
Callies again? They seem to have a tougher time coming out of Alberta than at the nationals themselves.
Bates
Divisions have changed as NB have withdrawn from the Men and Womens Nationals. In the mens division now there are 2 NL teams with Ont, BC, and Que in one division. Now that is a group of death!
rdf
Bates, don't forget that quebec and ontario only finished 7 & 8 at last year's tournament - and deservedly so...
Bates
I was there last year and have watched all Nationals for the last 10 years and can assure you last years finish was a blip for both. Quebec would have played for bronze had game against NL not been replayed because of Referee error. This is the group of Death.

What the hell, how can New Brunswick not show up to Nationals when it is relatively close to their Province? That is disgraceful. How do you know who is in which pool Bates? I haven't seen anything on any of the websites. Since we aren't Ont, BC or Que its not like we matter here in Sask but hopefully we find out who we play in the near future. Bates
I think it is a little better for you Yorkton as you are now in with AB, NS, Man, and PEI. The Nationals website will be updated in the next couple of days. I got the info from the St. Lawrence Laurentians website which happens to be my hometown. I presently live in Saskatoon. REAL TORONTO will no longer represent Ontario as per today's London Free Press article... it would appear they are cheaterous bastards(ya I made that word up) and fielded an ineligible player... see http://lfpress.ca/newsstand/Sports/Soccer/2008/09/28/6906921-sun.html Ontario Rep will now be London's own AEK! Vic
I'm impressed the OSA stood behind their rules and didn't file this away (which would have probably been a lot easier and less embarassing). But that said, two little side points: 1) "Martin Painter, coach of AEK, received a telephone call Thursday from the OSA, asking if it turned out Toronto had used an ineligible player, would the London club be available to represent Ontario at the national championships in Newfoundland the second week of October." Should the phone call not have said "You are provincial champions, are you able to go out East in October?" Period. I'm not sure if that quote above is verbatim or not, but the way it's written it sounds like if they said "No" the door was left open to send Toronto. I really hope I'm reading that wrong. 2. "The situation apparently came to the attention of the OSA when Real filled in its roster for the national tournament, and when it was checked against the official OSA roster, the extra player was noticed." Sounds like someone needs a computer upgrade: "if count > 25 then alert ILLEGAL" .... isn't exactly rocket science.
