Owning more than one club in one competetion

Recommended Posts

Since MLS owns every club in the league(51% of each club, right?) are they breaking any rules of FIFA's by having more than one club in the same continental competition? Does FIFA have rules preventing this from happening? Or maybe that's only UEFA?

Either way, what kind of ethical problems does this create in the games? I personally think that it's not right, however, given that MLS is a league and not an idividual as well as the fact that they own only a portion of the club, it makes me certain that nothing bad could happen.

But what if Chivas USA were to meet the original Chivas, who if I'm not mistaken have the same owners? If Chivas winning over Chivas USA means 5X more profits, then would that owner try to make that happen?

I'd love a groupe with Chivas / Chivas USA and Joe Public

I'm sure we can find a fourth team to make it more Concacafesque

Look no further than the Canadian champion. :)

Where else in the world do you have a three-team round-robin tournament in the middle of the club's regular seasons (in foreign championships) to determine the national champion?

That's as CONCACAF as you can get. :D
