trueviking
Newcastle owner Mike Ashley faces possible police action over pint Newcastle owner Mike Ashley could face a police inquiry and a possible banning order from Premier League stadiums after being caught drinking a pint of beer in the stands. The sports retail magnate was sat with the travelling supporters, wearing a 'King Kev' replica shirt, during Newcastle's televised 3-0 reverse at the Emirates Stadium when he was spotted by Setanta cameras swiftly downing a pint of ale in the second half. While Buckinghamshire-based billionaire Ashley was presumably drowning his sorrows, Saturday's loss may be further compounded by a potential fine or banning order if retrospective action is taken against him. In accordance with Premier League licensing laws, alcohol is strictly prohibited in view of the pitch but Ashley was clearly seen depositing the beer before leaving five minutes before the end of the match, with Kevin Keegan's side heading for defeat. Had Police spotted the incident at the time, Ashley, 45, could have been ejected from the stadium and cautioned for his behaviour. Protesting Ashley's innocence, however, Newcastle issued a statement, saying: "Mike was offered a drink which he thought was non-alcoholic so he took it in good faith." In response Arsenal, who are said to be launching an internal investigation as to how Ashley managed to obtain alcohol in the Emirates stands, confirmed they do not sell non-alcoholic beer in the stadium and Ashley could now face action. youllneverwalkalone
You have to question the wisdom of anyone who gets sacked over Dwayne DeRosario and Joey Barton in the same career, but I really give Kevin Keegan a lot of credit for his loyalty. Loyalty is important to Geordies. You even see it in young Edgar, being willing to see his situation through -likely at great risk to his own career. That fat pig of a chairman is a total disgrace to Newcastle. Sad really. How can you sack the chairman? Are there any Arabs or Russian Jews left who don't own a football club? Mark Cuban would be better than this guy. Or Aquilini?

trueviking
i wish they had a clip from setanta on youtube...i was watching it live and they stayed on him longer than BBC and fox did...after he finished guzzling the beer he shook his jowels like a bulldog after drinking from his water dish. i think its priceless...good on him....makes me want to cheer for newcastle even more...now if they would only let edgar on the pitch for more than 2 minutes per game. Soju
This makes me like Ashley more if anything. I'd rather see a chairman having a beer wearing a replica shirt in the stands than whatever horribly dodgy sh1t most of them are up to.
