Toronto MB
I was in attendance for today's Coca-Cola League 2 fixture between Gillingham and Accrington Stanley at Gillingham's Priestfield Stadium, featuring our Simeon Jackson. Gillingham won one-nil on a 2nd half goal after dominating the run of play for the entire match. Jackson played the full 90 minutes and put in a strong performance. He is wearing number 10 for the club and has solidified his role as their primary striker. He did extremely well holding up the ball considering his diminutive size and played somewhat of the same game as you would expect from Ali Gerba. Certainly not ready for the MNT, but I believe he is still eligible to compete for the U-23's and could contribute at that level. For now, CC League 2 (England's 4th division) is a comofortable learning level for him. Maybe in a couple years we can expect a CC League 1 or Championship level from him. Certainly not headed for the EPL, or the Champions League. Anyways, a treat to see a Canadian boy put in a good performance. I wish him all the best with Gills! youllneverwalkalone
quote:Originally posted by SthMelbRed The reason that he needs to get away from Newcastle is that Keegan has been going on for months that he wants to sign more than one new defender. Another reason he needs to get away from Newcastle is that fat phuck of a chairman wearing his ridiculous kit and chugging his beer. What an embarrassment. How can the kid be loyal to that? Keegan
De Jong and Klukowski not dressing? I thought Klukowski was one of Brugges best players? Has he left for Canada? Carrying a knock? De Jong? Wtf? Haven't heard much about him. Maybe both are on the verge of transfers?
Start fan in exile
Full round in Norway Tippeliga and Adeccoliga tonight. Live text updates: http://live.nettavisen.no/fotball/live/ Tromsø travel to Oslo to face Lyn. Both teams fighting for a medal, so could be fun. No word on whether Kenny will start but gk rival Ramovic is leaving Tromsø on a free transfer at the end of the season which may prompt the coach to give Stamatopoulos more playing time. In the Adecco, Løv-Ham travel to Kristiansand to play Start. Ademolu will not dress as he has to serve a yellow card suspension. On Monday a struggling Lillestrøm and Olivier Occéan host league-leaders Stabæk.
ChrisB
Stalteri AGAIN not even on the bench for Spurs, as they start 19 year old Chris Gunter at right back (and Gunter has looked pretty sold through half). Only today to sell or loan him...

In the FourFourTwo season preview, he was listed as "someone to watch" for Gillingham this season (I hope that doesn't carry a Sports Illustrated cover/Madden video game curse: last year, Jaime Peters was listed as the one to watch for Ipswich Town and he ended up the year at Yeovil). Was he able to demonstrate any of his pace during that match because he has a pretty good turn of speed? Thanks for the write up!

What he needs to work on is his offside timing. He was caught off by about a yard 2-3 times.
sloth8
quote:Originally posted by Keegan We need video of this goal: "Barnsley grabbed a sensational lead on 72 minutes with a goal of the season contender from million pound man Hume. There looked to be very little on for the striker when Howard's free kick dropped 30 yards from goal but he hit an unstoppable volley that flew past Carroll and almost broke the back of the net." Hume also assisted on the second goal off the corner. Granted, he's a ways off from being in the MNT set up but as I have mentioned in other threads I would really our striker pool to have a true pacy player operating more in the centre of the attack as opposed to the flank, the kind of guy who has the extra overdrive gear to get away from a pursuing defender. Who knows, down the road maybe he (or Hoillet) can be that option.
Martyr
Julian De Guzman and Deportivo are playing Real Madrid right now. 1-0 for Depor after 25 minutes on a header from a corner. JDG not involved in the goal, but he's holding the midfield very well. Very interesting how he barely gets near the opposition's penalty area with his club despite his obvious scoring abilities. JDG was rock solid, shutting down any attempt madrid made to build an attack on his side of the field. That crazy Scottish dude who does colour commentary for GolTV praised him repeatedly for his strong play. Depor defended very bravely, although, in fairness, Madrid did not look overly sharp today. Depor clearly benefitted from playing meaningful games in Europe prior to the 1st game of the La Liga season.

Guest Jeffery S.
Klukowski did not play nor was even on the bench for Bruges 1-4 win against a newly promoted side on Saturday. Wonder if he is injured, don't think he is being punished for international duty. In any case, he may have a knock. Read on the Belgian sites that Radzinski has Belgian citizenship on the basis of his marriage to a Belgian, did not know that.
