Gian-Luca
Will Johnson played a full 90 minutes in his debut for Real Salt Lake as they defeat Colorado 2-0. He picked up a yellow card for a reckless foul in the 81st minute.

Start fan in exile
Robert Giacomi did not play today as Kristiansund BK lost 3-1 away to Byåsen. Not sure why - Giacomi has been steady the past two matches, keeping a clean sheet both times. In the print edition of today's local paper Tidens Krav it is claimed that both Haugesund and Viking have been following Giacomi closely. Apparently Haugesund - who have 2 keepers injured - wanted to get Giacomi on a loan for the rest of this season but the player wanted to stay put. (apologies for the lack of a link - it's only in print)

ag futbol
Now maybe it's just my eyes, but I picture Rob being I don't know, at least slightly taller than 5'8 that soccer net has him listed as. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/players/stats?id=121538&cc=5901
Keegan
We need video of this goal: "Barnsley grabbed a sensational lead on 72 minutes with a goal of the season contender from million pound man Hume. There looked to be very little on for the striker when Howard's free kick dropped 30 yards from goal but he hit an unstoppable volley that flew past Carroll and almost broke the back of the net." Hume also assisted on the second goal off the corner.

SthMelbRed
David Edgar should be in line for a senior call-up now that he's playing first-team football. He made a game changing late appearance, steadying Newcastle's defensive ship. They didn't concede any goals after he came on for the last two minutes of the match. The boy needs to make a move, and quick, in the next couple of days to avoid Kevin Keegan permanently stunting his development as a player. He played decent but steadied the defense? And they didn't concede a goal for all of 2 minutes? It was 3-0 not 30-0. I agree though he does deserve a call. Keegan
And no on him moving. Right now he is back up #1 on defense. With suspensions and injuries he will most definitely get his share of starts and time this year. Not to mention Newcastle is a great club and you can develop without playing 1st team ball. Training and being around an environment such as Newcastle is just as important imo.
SthMelbRed
^Have you heard of irony? It was clearly a sarcastic post. The reason that he needs to get away from Newcastle is that Keegan has been going on for months that he wants to sign more than one new defender. To me, he has shown a clear lack of faith in David Edgar. Edgar is a dead certainty to move on a free transfer at the end of this season. Spending a season playing for a manager who doesn't have to first clue about defending and is a brutal technical coach won't help a 21-year old develop. He needs to move to a club that has faith in him as a player and is willing to make the commitment to developing him into a full-time starter. Fair points. I think he is coming along at Newcastle though and last season Kevin did show some faith and gave him a couple starts. Moving onto Rob Friend. Very nice goal and what an atmosphere at that stadium. Cool to see Rob Friend's club beating a team of International stars such as Pizarro and Diego like that (3 nil at one point). SthMelbRed
^Two goals in three Bundesliga starts for the big man. Two in three matches for Humey. Is it time for DM to go 4-4-2 to utilise the classic big man-little man pairing up front?

I like the 4-3-3 Put Hume on the right wing and allow him to drift outside the area etc. The goals he scores are long range and with our current formation most of the looks he will get are goals which take powerful shots. I like it the way it is. Rob Friend can knock the ball down to either of the wingers who can act as forwards sort of.
