So it didn't take long for Laurent Robert to find a new club. from what i saw on goal.com and skysports.com Robert has signed on with Larissa of the Greek Super League. He'll be playing with former teammate (and former TFC potential player) Nolberto Solano. Does anyone else think this signing took place rather fast... like he may have known about the interest in him before he was released?

The transfer window closes in a few days, teams looking and players without clubs move fast this week. As do agents.

not sure. Greece has a pretty good trio at the top with Panathinaikos, Olympiacos, and AEK. after them there are a few other competitive sides like PAOK & Aries which have been playing well so far this year in preseason. fist match of the season is this weekend so we'll see how it goes

Same club that stole Macej Zurawski from Columbus. They also have a Belgium International.

Probably a top 3 or 4 club then no?

Larissa are a small-ish Greek club, but they've had some success the past couple of years. As pro player said, the 3 big Athenian clubs dwarf them...

Larissa are not on the same level as the big 3, but I wouldn't call them "smallish". They were the Greek Cup winners 2 seasons, a trophy they also won in 1985. Most importantly, they have the distinction of being the only "provincial" team (ie. outside Athens and Thessaloniki) to have won the league championship in 1988. They had a somewhat long spell outside the top flight, but since making it back they have been a relatively solid team with a president who seems to really be behind the club. They are supposed to start construction on a new soccer specific stadium within the year and have very good fan support.

As for their roster, besides the arrival of Robert, they also brought in Nolberto Solano, Mbo Mpenza and of course Zurawski arrived last season. These are players of some repute, sprinkle in a a few promising young Greeks, and they can have a decent season I think. Hopefully their new coach, Marinos Ouzounidis, can get them back into Europe.
