VPjr
Have people made travel arrangements and hotel arrangements yet for next weekend's game? I've looked into various options (renting a bus, group rates to take the train, getting a group rate at a reputable hotel in downtown Montreal). However, if most people have already made their own arrangements, there is no point trying to organize group transport and accomodations. Let me know if there are people who have not made arrangements yet and maybe we can get something organized. If not, I'll just book my own room and buy a Via ticket and see you all there. VPjr
I've reserved 4 hotel rooms at the Sheraton 4 Points on Sherbrooke in Montreal. This is a very centrally located hotel, clean rooms, good cafe next door to grab breakfast and its pretty close to the Metro as well as only a 10-15 minute walk to the main entertainment district. I stay there whenever I go to Montreal. It's not "cheap" but this is a good price for this hotel. With all taxes included, the rooms will cost $165.09 (after all taxes, $142.00 before taxes). One of those 4 rooms is for me. The other is for JohnTV. If anyone wants the other two rooms, please email me and I'll put you down for them. They are booked under my name and my credit card for now but when you check in you would put your own card down. If more rooms are needed, I can reserve them at this price directly through the hotel manager up until 72 hours before check in (space permitting). The rooms I have booked have 2 Queen Size beds and the prices are based on double occupancy. If you want to squeeze a couple extra people into the room to reduce the price per person, by all means do it (just dont kill the room...my company does a fair bit of business with this hotel and I don't want to screw it up) they have parking if you are driving down. it costs extra. VPjr
I've also looked into bus and train options. The best price I have found to rent a 47 seat coach is $4600+. That works out, essentially, to $100 per person (taxes included). If I get 46 people committed to take the bus, I'll book it, although I'd personally prefer to take the train. If you are a VISA card holder, VIA Rail has a special promotion that allows you to book a Via full far Comfort class seat and then get 50% off. The price comes out to about $135.00 (taxes included), which is about $10 cheaper if you just buy the cheapest seat available without the VISA discount offer. Not a huge savings but better than nothing. The cheapest option is obviously renting a van and car pooling. A rental with all the insurance and taxes is going to run you about $80 per day x 2 days + gas and parking costs. Split amongst 4-6 people, you are looking at $60-80 per person. Dare431
I'm taking a greyhound leaving Toronto at 9:30am on Sept 6th. The round trip from Toronto to Montreal cost me $95. I wouldn't recommend it however as there is a 5 hour stop over in Ottawa on the return bus home (so from 2:00am to 7:00am you're basically screwed). Luckily I have family in Ottawa I'll crash for a bit

I_AM_CANADIAN
With the student discount I managed to get on the VIA Rail train for about 120 bucks for the round trip... I'm still trying to find accomodation, though. Looking for something relatively un-trashy (meaning any motel or hotel, not sleeping under a bridge) but under a hundred bucks, which is proving difficult... I only ask cause I will be reaching from Toronto by myself and would rather split the costs of a hotel room with someone then pay for it all? Would you be interested in sharing one of those rooms that VPjr has reserved for the v's?

theaub
I'll split a room with someone. Also, what train is everyone taking back? I figure the 11:40 train is better than the earlier one.
