Whitecaps add 2 more SV&Gers...

Good to have some back up the forward we signed sounds like he has pace and size and will come in handy during this tail end of the season. I guess Frank Yallop put the word in for him as he did not make Sanjose but obviously has a proven goal scoring record. T

These signings really make me wonder about the Caps scouting budget? I assume someone from the organization was in Montreal to watch these guys? It would be incredibly sad if Lenarduzzi was sitting around watching the Canada match on TV and then decided to sign these guys. I know I watched quite a few CONCACAF qualifyers on GOL TV. Why not players from Grenada or Netherlands Antilles? I'm a bit surprised that between Niendorf, Teitur, and Bobby that new signings have to come out of St. Vag. Maybe it's a case of these guys wanting to play closer to home, but I would think there's better talent in the Irish League that Wesley Charles who -ftr- seems to have a bit of an attitude problem yelling at Nolly the other day over nothing.

Well, jokes about TV scouting aside, I think the Caps have done quite well with their scouting, trades and signings this year.

Nolly - a bit adventurous at times, but rock solid when he needs to be.

Jarun - big, feisty and very much improved over the course of the year.

Charles - our first VAG ever. A force to be reckoned with, and pairs great with Jarun.

Hirano - running hot & cold this year, but hampered by nagging injury. Still a great addition with good sense on the ball.

Arze - needs a little more development & experience, but shows streaks of brilliance early in his career.

Addlery - same as Arze, but much feistier.

Moose - by and far the unsung hero this season. What a workhorse!

Gbeke - a tried and true utility man up front.

And let's not forget the kids coming up through the residency squad... particularly Edwini-Bonsu and Admir Salihovic. With a little more experience, those two will be tearing up USL in no time. Luca Bellisomo is getting lots of playing time, and his game is definitely improving.

So by my count that's two Americans, a US-Palestinian, a VAGitarian, a Japanese, a Bolivian, a Jamaican, a Can-Cote d'Ivoire, a Can-Ghanian, a Can-Bosnian and a Can-Italian.

Yes, quite a few of these guys have been banging around N. America for a while, but a lot are foreign born or have been playing abroad in recent seasons. My point is, I think it's clear the Caps are looking beyond the warm, wet waters of VAG for talent.

Well that sucks. With Charles injured we could use them for the end of the season run & playoffs. So much for plan A but on the bright side we should see more of the Whitecaps youth on the field. E-B will get a bunch of goals and he is fun to watch.

This is a tad off topic, but I see both Vancouver and Montreal signing what seem to be fully competent footballers, while Toronto seems to keep signing let-downs and players who don't live up to their capabilities. What's going on here? Why are two clubs in a supposed lower division singing good players who actually make a difference on the pitch, while Toronto FC seem to be making an embarrassment with every signing?

Now to be back on topic, I really hope to see Montreal push as far up the standings now as possible, they really seem to be gelling as a team. Vancouver deserves the USL championship this year, and I really hope they push full bore on the weekend against Puerto Rico. Are there no other Canadians kicking around (pardon the pun) that could fill the spots the two VAGina's have been brought in to fill? Is Vancouver in dire need of new strikers at this point?
