tmcmurph
Another 3 points for the Caps. Way too much long ball but I think that was intentional in trying to use the speed up front to burn Portland. Hirano looked rusty but did break up some plays with good judgment and positioning. Nice one off the crossbar late by Arze. The Caps were scrambling a lot at the end but held on to win it. Nice to see the game on TV. The field looked decent at least on TV. Richard
The grass at Swangard for the most part is top notch, but then it is seldom used for anything else but Whitecaps league games.
Calgary Boomer
^ Until yesterday, when SFU football tore it up. You'll see the remnants of gridiron markings Wednesday vs Atlanta, along with the chewed up sidelines from gigantic linebackers waddling back and forth. Richard
^ Fortunately that only happens right at the end of the season but it demonstrates what I mean about Football Turf being the only answer for publicly owned, shared facilities. While Swangard is only used by the Whitecaps the pitch remains pristine but as soon as the field is shared....
