Grizzly
I am organizing the Voyageurs in Montreal and am opening this thread for people to discuss or ask questions about what we will be doing and also about Montreal. The other thread is intended to contain solely information so please post any questions/opinions/ideas on this thread. To the Mods, please sticky the other thread. This one we can probably leave free but I will leave it up to you whether you want to sticky it or not.
Sam
I'm taking train 652, so I should be around the Saputo at around 2ish. I know there's an England game on at 3 will Pub 99 have it, or is there an other place to watch this one?

If it is on regular tv, Pub 99 could probably put it on but I don't tink they have an extensive channel list. If you want to see the game, there are lots of pubs downtown near the train station that would show it.
I_AM_CANADIAN
Pretty good deal to be had here, the Motel Marquis, on Rue Sherbrooke near the stadium... I entered two adults and two double beds, came to $77.43. http://www.bonjourquebec.com/qc-en/accommodation-directory/hotel/motel-le-marquis_865359.html
Christian B.
At what time are you guys expecting leaving Pub 99 for the march towards the Saputo stadium? For some reason I'll probably won't be able to take a few beers with you at the pub before the game but I'd like to be part of the march.

It is easy to get to the stadium from downtown by subway. The area near the stadium is a lower income area and there is very little to do other than the stuff at Olympic Park. The game starts at 8 and we don't want to get there too early but we don't want to get stuck going through security either. It is about a 15 minute walk from 99 to the stadium but it would probably take a bit longer with several hundred people on a march. I am thinking 6:45 might be a good time to start but maybe we should start lining up at 6:30. Does anyone else have some thoughts on this.

That's a good idea to start it earlier, to be honest I felt the BMO march started a bit late, as so many supporters got caught in the "traffic jams" going through the BMO Field gates. Get to the stadium at 7:10 and go through security.

The central point of downtown (and party central) is Crescent and Ste. Catherine.
littleD
Are people going back to Pub 99 after the match, or heading more towards downtown? I want to find a place to watch the UFC PPV after the match if anyone else is interested in that sort of thing. As for accommodations, I've got a room at Hotel St-Denis for less than $100 per night. It is a "budget" room. Not exactly sure what that means. As long as it's half decent and I can get a couple hours sleep per night, it can't be all that bad. I could meet people dt and take them to the bar.

If you go to Doubletree.com, you can get a two bed room (for "two" adults) for $98.10 for the night of the 6th by choosing the "Get Going Canada" rate (non-refundable and must be paid at time of booking). Looks like a decent hotel at Sherbrooke just east of St Denis.

Dare431
If it's a 15 minute walk what about starting it at 7? I know there was a hold up at BMO field because they patted everyone down before the match. Was this because it was a WCQ or because the EX was going on? Leaving at 7 gives everyone an hour (even at slower marching speeds) to get to their seat.
