loyola
Occean starts as Lillestrom are trying to get a result against FCK and Atiba Hutchinson in a UEFA Cup clash. First leg was won 3-1 by FCK at Parken. Min 39: FCK 2-1 Lillestrom (Occean with the goal). LSK needs to score 4 more goals if they want to progress... Guest Jeffery S.
Julian de Guzman plays 90, then takes a senseless 2nd yellow and will miss Depor's first group stage UEFA Cup match (draw goes tomorrow in Monaco), as they beat Hajduk Split 0-2; first leg in Coruña was a scoreless draw. Julian played his usual game, short passing, good positioning offering himself to his teammates for the pass, and hard defending. He is not too daring, took a few shots from outside the box way wide or high, had one attempt at a long pass into the hole that was nice, the rest short and in close. He also wore the captain's armband, think that was after Valerón left but not sure if he had it the whole time until he was sent off. The guy plays well for Depor and has his role, but I think he does a lot more and is actually more focussed and assumes more responsibility when he plays for Canada. I knew he was a key piece of Deportivo, but didn't know had had that stature with the club.
Ceres
quote:Originally posted by nolando Getting harder and harder to deny this guy a chance in the squad. I watched the match on TV and though Lillestrøm were absolutely outclassed in all aspects of the game against FCK, Occean was the only Lillestrøm player getting much praise. As the match progressed they actually said on danish TV that he was a regular one-man army, that it was quite unbelivable that he was not a regular on the Canadian NT... and that the Canadian NT must have some very strong forwards to keep him out of the team... As for the match itself, then FCK were 3-1 up from the first leg and did not really invest more in this match than they had to... When FCK were taking it a bit too easy, Lillestrøm made their 2nd goal, but then FCK straight away stepped up the pace and very easily score a few more goals.. Infact Lillestrøm should be happy that FCK did not take the match to that step up in level more than the few times they needed a goal more to win, because then it could easily have become really embarassing... To be honest Occean looked a level above his team-mates in this match and also levels above anything I have ever seen from Ali Gerba at club level.. .
