So how are we going to do it?

There are 18 points available in this round, two of the teams will go through. The plan was to win at home and tie on the road, that will give 12 points. Mexico and Jamaica are on track, Honduras are down a point and we are down two. I think that 10 points should get us through, where do we get them?

Sept 6 in Montreal is a must, must, must win. If you accept that we do, that gives us 4 points, how do we get the other 6? A win in either Honduras or Jamaica is three, And the rest as ties give us 10 points. But that means that we have to tie Mexico both at home and away, I still have permanently etched bad memories of us getting pounded in Azteca when Lenaduzzi was in charge. Except for the 2000

Gold Cup I don't think that we have beaten Mexico in the last 25 years. Two straight ties may be a stretch, yes I know the guys are playing much better these days, but you can still play competitive ball in the other guy's home and lose.

Honduras is probably planning on 6 points from Jamaica, 4 from us and 1 from Mexico for 11. Jamaica is probably looking for 6 from Honduras, 4 from us and 1 from Mexico for 11. If what I wrote above for Canada holds, then Honduras has 8 points max and Jamaica has 9 maximum. So if neither Honduras nor Jamaica sweep each other then we can get through with 8 or 9 points, unless someone gets more than a tie against Mexico. Incidentally if each of Jamaica Honduras and us get a tie against Mexico they get 12 points.

The bottom line is that we have to win, definitely in Montreal, at least once in Jamaica or Honduras and tie the other of those games and to be sure get a result against Mexico, not easy but doable.

to me canada will get

wins at home vs honduras in jamaica , and draws , twice vs mexico and honduras away

that givns canada 8 points

jamaica for me will get 4 draws and two loss vs mexico away and canada at home last game maybe

will get 4 points

honduras will get 3 losses vs mexico twice, and vs canada a 3 draws , maybe a win vs jamaica at home or away will get them 5 points 1-3-2

mexico may get 3 victories and 3 draws making 12 points

i see too many draws here

in this group

I see the following:

Mexico:

Jamaica, D-Kingston, W-Mexico City

Honduras, W-Mexico City, L-San Sula

Canada, W-Chiapas, D-Edmonton

Jamaica

Canada, D-Toronto, D-Kingston

Honduras, L-San Sula, W-Kingston

Canada

Honduras, W-Montreal, D-San Sula

So that is

Mexico - 11

Canada - 7

Honduras - 7

Jamaica - 6

Don't know what the tiebreaker is (head to head or goal differential)?

i think a win in both jamaica and honduras are in the cards...i dont believe that there is that much home field advantage...we are a stronger team than both...play our game...get an early lead to avoid their cheating theatrics.

we really have to hope that mexico keeps winning and that we can steala point from them.

If we can do that and win in Montreal then we are through the the Hex. Not to mention the Mexico matches where I really think we can win at home and draw on the road.

Win at home and draw on the raod generally makes sense, but since we essentially dropped two points instead of earning one (drawing the weakest team at home), we may need some help. We should hope for Mexico to beat Jamaica and Honduras in all four games and for both Honduras vs Jamaica games to end in draws. If both Jamaica and Honduras get 0 from Mexico and only two each from their matches, then we should get enough points in our games to finish second behind Mexico.

Depending how the group goes, we will need between 8-10 pts, but yea we have to win vs Honduras and vs Mexico in Edmonton I dont know, its a though one, but since we dropped 2 points at home we have to steal points in Jamaica and Honduras

i love how we are being underestimated(the weakest team in the group, every body should get 6 points from us ect) a lot of hearts will be broken and dreams shattered when jamaica finally get all their international players for 10 - 5 day camps. 1 thing i kno we wont be giving away points free, it will be blood and gutz to the final whistle especially in Kingston.

Mexico there will be no respect once u set foot in jamaica...in this campaign its who's hungrier and not whos stronger on paper will get in and were STARVING!

They might say we were saved by our keeper vs canada but isnt that what he's there to do(saw the hunger in his eyes?), your as stong as your weakest link and i'd rather that be our Cb and lb (jermaine taylor and woodbine 2 youngsters that are very inexperience and cant focus 4 90 mi, all most cost us the game with shabby marking, im sure they wont be starting against mexico)rather than our keeper.

^Actually I wasn't suggesting that Jamaica was the weakest in the group, I was trying to suggest what Canada had to do in light of the others' expectations. I have no doubt that Jamaica plans on beating us at home and plans on taking all six points from Honduras, in much the same way that Honduras plans the same thing too. I think that both conceed that Mexico is the strongest in the group and so the reduced expectations. But I don't think that Jamaica or Honduras is likely to take all six from the other which reduces the number of points that is required to get the number two spot. All subject to one or more of the other three getting more than a tie out of Mexico. Also if we fail to beat Honduras at home you can probably stick a fork in us as we are done.

I think a lot of it will come down to when Mexico clinches their birth through to the next round (I think we all agree that Mex will get through). We have a team that can conceivably take points from all 6 games, but its likely we'll lose or tie in Mexico. If Mexico clinches (four wins, including Canada) by the game in Edmonton, we have a much better chance getting three against them. If they aren't through yet however, the game will be much tougher to get the full points. Chances are, Mexico's last game in Honduras won't mean much to them as they will already be through to the hex. If we aren't ahead of Honduras going into that last game in Kingston, we may miss out.

I hope it doesn't come down to needing a win in Kingston, and having to rely on Mexico to beat Honduras in the final fixture. Of course it all starts with 3 points in Montreal.

GO CANADA!!!!

Yeah I was just about to post the same thing. I think a loss at mexico, means that a win in edmonton is far more likely. If i'm mexico, it would be hard to get up for a game when you have to travel to another country on four days rest after you have allready clinched.
