davelee05
The Bundesliga regular season started this weekend, and Rob Friend started for Mönchengladbach. They played Stuttgart in Mönchengladbach and lost 3-1, with Rob Friend scoring the single goal for Mönchengladbach. Here's a link to an article about the match in English. http://www.borussia.de/en/borussia_news_detail,116294,0,newsid-163368.html There is another post matchday post that quickly mentions that Rob Friend has left to join the Canadian National Team (not news to any of us of course). greenfield
Rob didn't do well on a few chances, seemed to want to place the ball instead of strike it. He took his goal well against a very good keeper. Hopefully he'll pot another on Wednesday
Keano
It gets my goat every time CP writes an article about a European match involving a CMNT player, let alone one that scores in the match, and they don't even mention the guy by name. http://tsn.ca/soccer/story/?id=246686&lid=sublink02&lpos=headlines_soccer
I_AM_CANADIAN
Yay!! Hopefully that cements Friend's place as Monchengladbach's first choice striker in the Bundesliga 1 this year.

When I read what teams were playing, I wondered whether Friend scored BM's lone goal. The CP article was bare bones to say the least.

"Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann had a successful return to the Bundesliga and made some big saves in the first half, including on a breakaway effort from Rob Friend. But Lehmann was helpless in the 60th minute when Stuttgart's defence left Friend alone in a mistimed offside trap for him to score from close range."
