Guest Jack Adams
Hi Guys, Wagenaar is still at Yeovil Town. The team have been away this week playing in a mini tournament, which I haven't seen any of the games. The Semi Final was tonight. It went to Penalties (no extra time) and Wagenaar scored one, it's in the rules the keeper has to take 1 of the first 5. Sadly Yeovil lost 5-3 though. Yeovil play a home friendly on Tuesday against Plymouth Arglye. I'll keep you upto date on anything I hear about Josh staying here.
loyola
Thanks for the update Jack! Funny rule BTW. Hope Josh can stay with Yeovil, it wouldn't be a bad place for him specially if he's starting.

You don't want to know the 'rules' regarding the points for each game. It looks like the competition organisers were making them up as they went along...... Guest Jack Adams
Not sure what this means for Wagenaar.......... quote:Portsmouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic will be the man between the sticks for tomorrow's pre-season friendly against Plymouth Argyle at Huish Park. The Glovers are still yet to agree a loan deal with the Premier League side, with BBC Somerset reporting that the deal is dependent upon Portsmouth signing an additional young keeper to help protect them against any possible injury problems. Begovic played two matches for Yeovil last season but his stay in Somerset was cut short when he was recalled to sit on the bench for Portsmouth. The Glovers are looking to take the Canadian-Bosnian on a season long loan with no recall possible, and clearly Portsmouth are wanting to make sure that does not expose them to any problems within their own first team squad. http://www.ciderspace.co.uk/ASP/news/news.asp?NewsItemId=7142
loyola
According to some Yeovil fans, Wagenaar should get a contract offer while Begovic loan is a real possibility. Funny that we could see 2 canadian keepers with the same club.

bungey
This from the bbc, apparently Asmir's had time off due to the death of his grandfather. Yeovil expects him to play on Saturday. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/y/yeovil/7529552.stm

jpg75
^ I wonder if that's the same grandpa who used to throw the ball at him in his bedroom in Bosnia during the war?
Guest Jack Adams
Wagenaar To Get Contract Offer Yeovil Town manager Russell Slade has said that he is likely to offer Canadian goalkeeper Josh Wagenaar a permanent deal with the club, after impressing in pre-season friendlies. The move is likely to give Yeovil Town two Canadian international keepers on their books, given that Asmir Begovic is now training with the Glovers and is expected to play in tomorrow's match against Weymouth. Neither keeper featured in the annual First Team photo, but Slade told the Western Daily Press that he was hoping to get Asmir signed up within the next week: "Asmir is here and has trained with us. We hope he will put pen to paper on his loan before the start of the season. We are delighted to get him here because he impressed with us last season and we've been very patient in waiting for him." Wagenaar will also have talks held next week, suggesting that Slade has been able to get enough budget to sign up two keepers for this season: "Josh has impressed and we'll sit down with him. Maybe this time next week we'll have two goalkeepers."

Surely it will be an interesting season to follow with those 2 in the same club. Might be interesting to know what kind of loan contract will be deal for Asmir (with or without a possiblity of a recall by Pompey). Congrats to Josh for getting an offer, it's been a tough year for him with injury, being release by ADO, training with TFC (eurkkkk). So good to see that he impressed Yeovil manager. AvroArrow
Maybe now that he's playing in England, look for Mo Johnston to "re-discover" Josh and try to pick him up.

Lol! Anyway, good for Josh, he's bounced around quite a bit recently so I hope that the signing goes through. He's got the talent, he just needs the games to get more experience to cut out some of the judgmental errors he occasionally has made. TFC would have been ideal for him but Mo decided to sign another back-up of comparable quality to Josh instead, which he was able to do in part thanks to those extra international spots. However if Josh signs here he will probably end up making more money.
