Massive Attack
Irish Embassy is a bit pricey and is another cucumber sandwich place. Plus its not that close to the stadium. There are a lot of other better places between it and BMO Field.
john tv
Gentlemen I have been harping for years that we must be the largest supporters group when playing a foreign country. It always seemed we were the visiting team and it bugged me even more to hear their car horns when we lost.I have been so mad over all these 45 years or so and never understood why this really happened.Mind you the media on many occasions even ignored our team and on purpose I believe. They hate soccer at this level, because it was a threat and soccer was not allowed to become a major sport.Things are changing and I truly believe this is the opportunity to show these jerks once and for all that we are for real, we love Canada and we want to go to the world cup.So I got my two tickets through jpjr and I am taking my 6.5 son. It will be a day in Canadian soccer to remember.I am delighted that the TFC supporters groups are throwing all their might behind our team and boy was this needed.Thank you all and keep up the good work.It will be amazing. The other night when our girls played I have never heard a more impressive O'Canada sung by the crowds, the chills were multiple and a first in my life.We can even do better,I hope the loudest one ever and I can assure you our players hear this and feel this through the game. VPjr
John, if you liked the anthem at the WNT match the other night, bring Kleenex to the match on the 20th of August. It's going to make your eyes well up with pride. Our voices will be heard across Lake Ontario.
KAS
quote:Originally posted by BrennanFan the Duke of Gloucester on yonge and bloor is another option. Another Duke makes sense to me, and Yonge/Bloor is where the two subway lines meet so out-of-towners staying in hotels would have no problems. I had thought about the Maddy (Madison - University of Toronto area bar), since it wouldn't be busy, but I wasn't sure if there was any point without the drunk university chick as that is its' sole purpose . I think a British-style pub on the subway line would be the most appropriate. That should work for everybody of all ages and accommodate those without cars. Only kidding I know you don't swim and anything else won't work. CN is to tall. But this anthems thing is in my opinion very vital. It is something our players have never experienced before and if we break the sound barrier it will set the yardstick for further games. I also realize that our emotion will be second to none and will probably set a record in volume over all other sporting events in Canada. We soccer guys just know how to use our voices and as I have said before that TFC thing is a marvelous training ground. You ain't seen and heard nothing yet.... big time. So jr,relax no tower and no lake for you, just that great feeling of total satisfaction that we made it happen.Canadian soccer has arrived and is here to stay. Paddy
Wow...I don't think I have even been this excited for a Canadian game. I really think this is going to be a legendary event. This could be a turning point in support for Canadian games and I feel proud to be a part of it. I have been to games all over the world, but this is the first time I think I will see a "Canadian" game. This could really have a profound effect on those who see it across Canada. Canada 3-0 Jamaica
djcuse
My vote is for Scallywags at YONGE/ST CLAIR, right off the subway line... A Great outdoor patio, and is one of the main soccer bars in the city for watching matches (qualifiers, premiership) and others... Pub has a website at www.scallywags.net check it out... We are talking about this for Tuesday night, the eve of the game correct? quote:Originally posted by gwallace76 It appears that this will be by far the biggest V's gathering ever. A.D.I.D.A.S.
:D has anyone ever considered doing a tifo for this game, something like this ---> ONE GIANT MOSAIC IN THE STANDS around the entire stadium that spells out "CANADA" or something like that... that would be an incredible sight
Razcle
As nice as that would look. Barca have a warchest of cash and a TIFO like this would barely skim into that. On the other hand, The voyageurs and CSA have no war chest to do something this massive for many years. There would have to be a lot of organization involved to get this to fly and I don't think we are there yet. This is why we need to continue to grow and get people to be a part of this "revolution" if there will actually be one....I'm in it and I bring new fans out all the time to have them be a part of it. But this is the future....now we just need to find a way to get there.. Thanks for the pic.
Tuscan
You know, I've been thinking, when large club teams with die-hard supporters like Celtic or United play, they usually have sort of a club anthem. I was wondering, aside from singing O Canada, are there any other Canadian songs that could be sung either before or after the anthem to add that extra bit of hardcore support for the boys? Seems to me it's "Come on your Reds" as well as a few other chants. Maple Leaf Forever keeps being brought up but no one really knows it. Hell I don't even know it! And if you follow TFC stuff you know it's hard enough getting people to do a chant for more than 30 seconds! I do think we need a "battle cry" of sorts though. Bertuzzi44
Wasn't there talk of Neil Young's "Heart of Gold"??
The Beaver
I think war cries should be inspired by less melancholy dudes that Neil Young, with all due respect. Love Young, but we might as well pick "If I had a million dollars" (the refrain "I'd buy a bucket of blow.) How about something chantable and fierce? What was Helix's big song? Or maybe something from "Rush". Something iconic? Music dudes, help!
The Beaver
Hey, what might be cool is if any of our aboriginal Voyageurs slammed together a fierce traditional war chant, inserting some Canada lyrics etc., and lead us in chant. Simple is best, but with drums this could be really cool.
Tuscan
Agreed, that would be something that every fakin nation we play would recognize. It would need to be something that would be remembered, something that would definitely be exclusive to us both in the wording of the song/chant and the general tune of the song/chant. I don't know if anyone could come up with this, but it would be fakin epic if we could pull it off.

Good idea in theory, but are their any Aboriginal V's but my biggest concern is could we pull it off while still making it look and sound good and w/o disrespecting it? I think we'd need lessons of sorts. But I think it's a great idea though.
