Interesting comment from one of the Canadian players on the game vs Puerto Rico, Off another forum. Since there is no history behind any of these youth national teams due to the young age group, surprises may arise!

Quote

" She said the Canadians under estimated the P.R squad because of their size, and underdeveloped bodies. But 15 minutes of watching the speed and passing, Canada kick in high gear and started passing the ball around themselves. Remember these are the opinions of a 16 year old, view the game yourself at CONFACA.com in about 2 hours."

We can't be doing that bad if T&T prefers (5 players from Canada and 9 from the U.S.) over their own crop of local players. I must conclude that north-american soccer experience that their players gain here is better than what they could get there. Or is it our physical style?

The result is on the CSA site. Canada was up 3-0 and wins 4-1 to win their group.

Harrison Cameron 2 and Maltais scored.

Canada will meet Costa Rica or Trindad in the semis.. Mexico and the US will meet in the other semis on Thursday.

After the WNT 1-0 escape a few months ago in Mexico, we realized the Costa Rican women are moving forward at lightspeed.

Late goals at 72(PK), 77. Hope the PK call was legit. Both CRC goalscorers (and 3 others) were also on the U20 team that played against our U20 side in Chile a month ago. And the girl who took the PK not only played against our U20 in Chile, she played against our WNT in Juarez and last Summer at 16 was the countries flagbearer in the Pan Am Games in Brazil.

Don't know what's more surprising - Mexico or Costa Rica.

Am I reading this right? Was Canada U20 in Chile a month ago playing Costa Rica?
