Daniel
No, but two teams can surely finish with 9 points .

[] No I just think that Jack Warner does a good job or sorting out close games (ie. avoid extra time by telling referees to disallow goals)

Robert
If the home sides win the remaining two matches, all of them will be level at 6 points each.
Daniel
Current GD: Montreal 6pts, +3 (1 game left) Toronto 3pts, 0 (2 games left) Vancouver 3pts, -3 (1 game left) Let's assume that the home teams both win by 2-0 and we have to go to goal difference. Montreal +1 Toronto 0 Vancouver -1 Unless TFC beats Vancouver by 3 goals in Vancouver, a win or a draw puts the Impact through. If TFC loses or draws in Vancouver, anything better than a 3-goal loss by Montreal in Toronto will see the Impact through (barring the Whitecaps thumping TFC). So Montreal are really in the drivers seat now. Rooting for the underdog just got more fun! I cheer for the Caps and then I'll cheer for Montreal and I'll cheer for TFC against anyone in MLS. Grizzly
Vancouver is pretty much out of the competition unless they beat TFC by a lot of goals and the Impact lose to TFC by a lot of goals. By my calculation Vancouver would have to beat TFC by 4 goals and have TFC beat Montreal by 3 goals to qualify.
AlanDouglas
^ Yup, not scoring on any of their three great near misses in Toronto really hurt Vancouver, especially as it would have been an away goal. Vancouver has to win it outright on goal difference now. The other tiebreakers can't help because we only have one away goal and can't get any more. If we beat TFC 3-0 and they beat Montreal 3-0, then GD is all even, goals scored is all even, and Montreal wins with 2 away goals. If we instead beat TFC 4-1 then Montreal loses out on goals scored, but TFC would then have 2 away goals. Vancouver has to win it by four now. I'd say they have the keys. TFC wants to win big in Vancouver if they want to avoid needing to beat Montreal at BMO (as opposed to a draw or a win). Gordon
It will be interesting to see how it plays out. TFC has to gain at least a point in Vancouver I think, as the GD is a significant advantage for Montreal right now. One thing is for sure...the last game is gonna mean something. Cashcleaner
^ Couldn't agree with you more on that, Gordon. It's gonna sound weird, but because I missed the July 1st game at BMO against Vancouver, I'm not all that bent outta shape with the result. It just means the game on the 22nd will mean all that much more.
Guest Jeffery S.
So I guess Caps will have to run up the score on TFC, sorry for that you Toronto fans. By the way, just curious, how have they decided reffing teams for these matches? Are they Canadian refs, or just USL/MLS refs, or what?
RS
The CSA assigns the refs. It's all of their top guys.
Robert
We'll do Montreal a big favour next week. Then as long as no Impact players take any foolish red cards in their final match everything should be in A okay, eh? Anything to keep T.O. out! tmcmurph
It would be funny to the point of collusion if Gbeke had a hot night and couldn't miss [8D] I think TFC will bring their 'A' game plus they get this weekend off and Vancouver plays this weekend, opposite last weekend. Not making excuses for TFC's play just noticing the league schedules for the 2 teams. Go Caps and the Impact will owe you beers!
Johnnie Monster
The joke's on all of you guys. Vancouver figured out early that if they actually went on to win the Voyageur's Cup, the next thing to look forward to would be a sweltering afternoon dodging flying bags of Nicaraguan urine. Toronto: It's all yours baby!
