Why is this game being played behind closed doors? Annoying that we can't get a link for this, or that it was'nt in Canada.

If anyone finds a link by any chance make sure to post it please!

This is not the first time the MNT had a closed-door match.

I recall a closed door match with Saudi Arabia just before the

2000 Gold Cup. It may have been a request by either team, to

finalize tactics and formations without scouts from the other

countries.

Who knows. It sucks, but what sucks more is the lack of TV for

the first match from St. Vincent. Even the home-and-home

matches with Cuba in 2000 were shown on Sportsnet.

And oh yeah ... Canada 2 (Friend, Issey), Panama 1 (Moreno)

Yea, the fact that an official WCQ match isn't being televised in Canada is pretty freakin unbelievable...

Damn st. VAG for having a decent stadium! why couldn't they be more like belieze....

This will be a Canada team without Julian and Dwayne.

I would look to Friend, Nsaliwa and Radzinski to be major contributors going forward.

That being said, I think we will draw.

Canada 1 - Panama 1

26th minute: Joe Panama

68th minute: Tam Nsaliwa

I hate to say it, but

Panama 2, Canada 1

3rd minute - some random Panama dude takes a long shot that deflects in off Hainault for an own goal.

45th minute injury time - Paul Stalteri is punched in the face by a Panamanian, and lies bleeding profusely on the pitch. As Panama press the attack against the undermanned Canadian side, the referee inexplicably allows play to continue more than 6 minutes into stoppage time, (despite the 4th official having indicated there would be only 2 minutes) until another random Panamanian dude suddenly falls to the pitch, screaming in pain and clutching his face. The referee falls for the dive and awards the PK. However the Panamanian hammers the PK off the crossbar. The ref then signals that the PK is to be taken again (for unclear reasons) and finally Panama score on the second PK attempt. Welcome to CONCACAF!

Canada press relentlessly throughout the second half, however two perfectly good Canadian goals are called back due to phantom offsides. Finally Atiba scores on a free kick header in the 81st minute, but it is too little too late.

In all seriousness, I'm afraid we may have a big letdown after the superb showing against Brazil. However we'll be fine when it really matters against SVG. (After all, SVG don't have the money or influence to expect "favours" in CONCACAF)

Well, we always seem to follow a great game with a not so good one. I'll say a messy 0-0 draw or 1-0 loss.

I think it is really important that we have a good result against Panama, as it will undermine our result against Brazil with the general public.

Is Dero not playing?

I'm expecting quite a radical lineup change from Sat's game against Brazil. Mitchell has said he wants to see some of the other guys, and some of the players who didn't play much on Sat.

"I want to see some of the guys I didn't see for very long against Brazil," he said. "We've seen these guys in training. We want to give them an international game because that's the best way to judge.

So, I would expect more of Peters, Nsawlia, Bernier. And I suspect Gerba will also play a role.
