Bill
http://www.cknw.com/Channels/Reg/NewsLocal/Story.aspx?ID=1005866 Talks have started again! I hope this is a good sign. Is it? Mabey the Whitecaps can announce an agreement Friday on the same day they announce a new roof for BC Place. Controversial announcements by the Government have a tendency to be made on Fridays so there's no media scrutiny over the weekend. So let's make Friday DEAL day okay!!! Bill
assuming they reach an agreement, what's the next step in the process?
Johnnyranger
Final permitting from the City no? The City said go ahead last time, but they gave the Caps 5 roadblocks to overcome...This was the last one. The Caps would probably need to do a proper architectural design, and start the process of hiring a General Contractor to build it.
piltdownman
If there is an Announcement on Friday, I say we get down there with our shovels on Saturday
Bill
The reason why I say Friday will be the day for a Deal is that most Government announcements come out on Fridays. The Evergreen announcement was on a Friday, etc, there's many other examples. Have you noticed how many press conferences happen on a Friday? Then by Monday the media has forgotten about it. And the Whitecaps might as well announce a Deal Friday to steal the thunder away from BC Place.
Vancouversoccerman
The next step would be for the City to send it to rezoning. It means yet another round of Public Consultation & hearings, but this time we would get to see the actual design of the stadium and all of the details regarding access and the seawall extension. And yes...we'd still have to keep fighting as hard as we are now. But the only step after that should be to get the shovels out, and pick out your seats! I'll be as happy as anyone if there's a Friday surprise. But I'm not betting the farm on it.
Guest Jeffery S.
That article gives me nothing or close to it, but I think if we keep the pressure on we might see some movement. Push your MPs and the powers that be.

Calgary Boomer
Actual letters still hold more weight. E-mails are easy to trash without reading.
