It appears that none of the photos were even credited. I was the photographer for the 2007 Canadian Senior Club Soccer Nationals. Those articles are dated November 2007, but I didn't even know about this magazine until today. Richard Posted March 28, 2008 Share Posted March 28, 2008 I have on occasion worked on contract for the BC Soccer Association covering their events and it is part of the agreement that the photos I take belong to them, not me. What prior arrangement did you have with the association(s) regarding your photos, if any? If you were working as a freelance and simply granted SNS/CSA the right to use your images then that would be a different matter. I know the team at the Soccer Paper and they would not knowingly 'steal' your work. I suspect they were provided the images by SNS or the CSA on request. aussoccerfan Posted March 28, 2008 Author Share Posted March 28, 2008 I just spoke to my contact at Soccer NS and he's never even heard of the Soccer Paper. I guess that means that Soccer NS didn't send them the pictures. The photos I put on the web are not high resolution either. Soccer NS gave me a tournament pass for taking those photos and I granted Soccer NS/CSA permission to use the photos because of that. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

As far as I can tell you don't have anything that would suggest people can or can not use your photos. You should think about that before you throw pictures or video up on sites such as those. Richard Posted March 28, 2008 Share Posted March 28, 2008 The web is the 21st century wild west. Put full resolution images on the web without watermarks and you're inviting people to use them. Granted the Soccer Paper ideally should not have used your work without your permission but it happens and unless you expressly copyright or watermark, recourse is virtually impossible. How do you know that the people at Soccer Paper went to your website? If you use flickr you can put a creative commons license on all your photos.
