Free kick
quote:Originally posted by vancanman This is the Voyageurs site, supporters of Canadian football. If you're posting on here and you don't support the national team, you should expect this sort of reaction. If you like footy, live in Canada and don't support the national team, I have nothing polite enough to say to you to not get myself kicked off here for foul language. I am at a bit of a loss to understand why some would be upset at people who just simply state that they dont have an emotional attachments for our national team but do support another national side. Yet, at the same time, that sentiment is seemingly ( aside from a small few ) not existent towards those who: 1-Suggest cutting funding towards the national teams by trying to get the sponsors to withdraw their support. 2-Are proponents of government interference in the adminstartion of soccer in the country at the risk of FIFA suspensions. 3-Suggest that the best efforts should not be put on qualifying and that it would be better if we fail. 4-Think that its more important to "Overthrow" the national body than it is to have some success in WCQ. 5-Think that grassroots soccer is more important than the national teams. I would argue that it is those who pay money to go to watch their local pro side but maybe have a first preferrence towards another national side who are more supportive of the national teams in the country as opposed to those who spend years only complaining about the national body but are never seen or heard from or when when the important games are played. It used to bother me as well at the fact that Canada suport suffers at the hands of people who follow other national sides but I've come to realize there are far worst culprits when its comes this topic. youllneverwalkalone
quote:Originally posted by Mpenza Aaah finally! Someone cares to ask! I'm from Belgium. I support Belgium, no one else. Except for Portugal in 2004, because I was treated to a royal welcome by my friend in Lisbon who GAVE me tickets for the first 4 Portugal games (yes, including that infamous quarter final against England) as well as the shirt and the scarf, and provided me with a roof and food for two whole weeks. I didn't want to be rude, you know... How many of you Ultras are from Belgium anyway? I assume that Kurosawa is? And Bxl Boy (don't know if he's an ultra though). What about Trident? Just curious. I'm not for sale, Grizzly. ... Hum... do the four tickets to four different games include transportation, if any? I have a big Canada flag that comes directly from the glory days of the Ultras 212 of the Montreal Manic here. I suppose I could bring it out for a free tour of the country. I'd like to go to this one. Westjet has a seat sale on out of Abbotsford right now to Toronto. $507.50 taxes included. Pretty crappy flight though. Leaves at 11:25PM from Abby, and gets into Toronto at 6:30AM. The return flight lands in Abby at 9:50PM.

Fort York Redcoat1555362293
I won't be leaving Toronto to watch my National side till there is another Official National stadium. It's the principle. I love Montreal. Can't wait for the TFC away leg for the CCL but until that Saputo field replaces BMO I won't have it.
Winnipeg Fury
I need the date and location clarified. I have to book holidays, as does my wife, and until we know for certain we can't do too much.
loyola
You should write an e-mail to Richard Scott at the CSA, he might be able to tell you when the decision will be made. He did it for me last year.

If the game is played in Montreal, Toronto or somewhere in between, I'm there for sure. If it's shifted out west, I doubt I'll be able to justify spending the money. However, if i have enough aeroplan points, i might consider it.

BrennanFan
you guys still going to be doing the black thing? Yes we all know the csa blows, but its WCQ, we should all be united in wearing Canada's colours.

I agree, I am fine with the black protests for friendlies but in WCQ there should only be one thing on our minds which is supporting the team for qualifying. RS
The fact that there has yet to be an announcement about this game is disheartening. I think, given that this is against a less than stellar opponent, that the game will be at BMO Field, on the 22nd (the day after TFC plays Kansas). Given that ticket sales will likely be low, and that both Saputo and BMO have games scheduled that weekend, the artificial turf gets the nod so as to protect Montreal's natural surface. Also, the small fact that the CSA plays at BMO rent-free (or pretty damn close to it) gives it another advantage over Saputo where they's probably have to pay rent. For a game against an opponent that is not going to sell many tickets, I can see the CSA going the cheap route. My fear is that if we get the St. Vincent game here, we'll get shafted on some of the higher profile matches as the CSA tries to demonstrate its "fairness" towards other cities. Daniel
It sucks that the clubs scheduled games on that weekend.
