Panama - Canada , June 4

I don't speak a word of Spanish, but after having a look at it, I think it basically says that the Panama and Canada will play each other in preparation for the CONCACAF qualification matches for SA 2010 at Rod Carew National Stadium (Panama City?). Panama will play its first qualification matches against the winner of the El Salvador vs. Anguilla series. El Salvador won the first leg 12-0 in the Salvadoran capital on February 6th.

If we cannot get a full squad together in June, the optimal time in terms of less club conflicts, it will show some difficulty for the semis campaign.

A June 6 match, 9 days before the ffirst leg on June 15 in St. Vincent, entails lots of training time should a full squad be assembled prior to the friendly. Hope fully they will stay in Panama (a great place by the way, know it well, relatively cheap to visit , US currency and VERY friendly people, great beaches, nicest people in Central America ...MUCH nicer than the spoiled Costa Ricans, it will be the rainy season, but that only means a couple of hours of showers at the most every day, followed by sun) and have lots of tropical training for the series against St. Vincent and gel for the coming semis. This will be the opportunity to work on things, as they will be too busy with clubs come August.

let me be one of the first to say good job too...i would have liked to have seen this game earlier and instead of any of the three previous or even the one coming up (estonia) but regardless, this is good timing and a beatable team that we should be able to test the a-squad against, in a latin american city no less

I'm hoping for a second friendly a couple of days after this one, too. Two games of prep with a full week of recovery and training before the SVG series. Like beachesl, I've been saying that we need a longer camp in June, as well. I'd like to see them have a week after the SVG matches somewhere warm (SVG would be very convenient, as they'll already be there) for team building and some prep for the semi-final group.

This will be a good preparation game for us. This also means that our team will likely get together at the beginning of June (or maybe earlier) so I would like to see another game before the SVG games.

If the team gets together at the start of June, or just before that, I'd prefer a second match be played just after the Panama match. My reasoning is that it'll be better for the whole squad to train together for a full week, then play two matches in a couple of days (it shouldn't be too much for a squad of 20 players)*. Then there'd be another full week for recovery and training before the SVG series.

*I'd go with the best eleven for the first sixty minutes of each match, with five changes for the last half hour in each game.

Yeah, a home friendly in May would be nice.

Yeah, a home friendly in May would be nice.

With the european leagues ending their season at an early time, I think a end of May friendly could be possible.

England, May 11th

Spain, May 18th

Denmark, May 24th

Germany, May 17th

Holland, April 20th

This is good news; good level of competition and good timing.

Euro 2008 starts a day later and as loyola pointed out above most of the Euro leagues will have been shut down for atleast a few weeks prior. We should have no issues getting a full A team together by late May and fully ready for the SVG series.

Sounds great as preparation for Honduras and Mexico. While in theory it would be nice to stay after the game and train in Panama, I'd be a bit worried that our guys might come down with some tropical disease (diarrhea, mosquito-borne infections etc) in the week leading up to the St Vincent match. Provided the CSA is able to book them in a safe, Western-style resort, it should be OK.
