C$A 2008 -2012 Draft Version, Strategic Framework

Draft Version.

http://www.bcsoccer.net/bcsa/Portals/0/Member/StrategicPlan08.pdf

6 pages of fluff!!!!

"As a result of discussions and outcomes from recent CSA meetings, available now is the Draft CSA Strategic Framework which has been revised and edited in order to allow for membership consultation within the pre-designated time frame of February 1st – 29th, 2008."

page 2 Summary = just start from scratch!

page 3 Summary = lot of studies, lots of $$$ spent

... lots of study's, thats a lot of coin.

Lets see that 2005 Deloitte & Touche Study - on-line all 42 pages</u>!!!!

page 4 summary = "spending 75% of the overall annual budget in support of player development and NT programs" - ...prove it, open the books lets look at your spending....

FIFA u20 was the highlight = loosing $$$ is a highlight???? wtf

page 5 summary = Mission, Vision & Values

the writer's strike is taking it's toll, they're moonlighing at the CSA - what fiction... I'm thinking the new logo should be the 3 monkeys that represent the "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil".

If it's true Sean Fleming is on the short list for TD, page 5 is the "DNA" that these people have no clue.

page 6 summary = WTF!!! NOW THIER RUBBING OUR NOSES IN IT!!!!

...i think i'm having a fred sanford moment... "Oh, this is the big one! You hear that, Elizabeth?! I'm coming to join you, honey!"

page 7 summary = form over substance

That was almost painful to read. Especially for anyone who's worked in the public service.

Looks like some CSA intern started with a generic Civil Service document, ran a "find-and-replace" to include the words "soccer" and "CSA" in a few places, and cut-and-pasted in a few soccer related jpgs.

And then probably had it professionally formatted and printed (for 5% of the CSA budget, after liquor and Nykamp-related expenses).

Says absolutely nothing.

Which is precisely what they intended.

Good job boys.

Bar opens at 6!

and keep in mind that, if this plan is approved in May at the CSA AGM, the CSA will be looking for $5-10 more per registration to fund it.

Do you trust the CSA and provinces with another $4 to 8 million per year for 5 years.

To me a plan has to have identifiable and measureable goals. In 2012 are we going to be able to pull this out and hold the CSA accountable?

Not in this form, because it doesn't say anything. Apparently this is a DRAFT and the FINAL will be more 'detailed' version. Let's hope it has some meat on it, otherwise it will be just another pathetic ploy to squeeze more money out of the membership...

It looks like something you'd read in a promotional pamphlet or something.....a strategic framework with nothing strategic...this is shocking especially when you think the board actually voted on this. Honestly, how would this be different from anything else they would have published as far as a vision of the future...a high school student could write this fluff piece of BS.

Although it was only a 'draft strategic framework", I think everyone agrees it was difficult to provide any meaningful response to it. OSA has developed a questionaire that (hopefully) makes it easier to express your opinion on what CSA priorities should be over the short term and the long term.

Although the original response period expired February 29, 2008, you can complete and submit the OSA questionaire for the next week or so.

The CSA blowing their own horn once again. Quote from their website:

Canadian Soccer Association, in partnership with its members and all its corporate partners, is dedicated to the growth and development of soccer for all Canadians at all levels. The Canadian Soccer Association is also dedicated to providing leadership and good governance for the sport. The Canadian Soccer Association’s goals include providing opportunities to all members from participation at the grassroots level to the FIFA World Cups, encouraging positive values in all aspects of the sport, and being recognised as a major player in the sport.

They do all that? they had me fooled. They have no clue of reality, sad bunch.

Did anyone expect anything else from our governing body? C'mon...these are volunteers...the same types of people who bicker on local soccer boards. They have no clue.

The first thing that should happen...charge every single person playing soccer in this country a MINIMUM of 10-25 dollars more for registration, and use the money to fund our sad sack national teams.

I'd say that's the LAST thing that should happen. And here we go...

The CSA's draft document (here):

http://www.bcsoccer.net/bcsa/Portals/0/Member/StrategicPlan08.pdf

Has been expanded and "tuned" up to a package that includes some 24 pages. This is the document cited by Maestracci as the guiding light for the CSA in the webcast this past weekend http://www.ssncanada.ca/media/special_pages/2008-05-03-cdnsoccer.html It was widely distributed this past weekend at the CSA's annual gathering.

However there was a problem within the package - one of the pictures included Canada vs Costa Rica action - the BLACK WEDNESDAY PROTEST, the SACK THE CSA t-shirts are clearly visible in the photograph and included in this updated version, which now has to be "fixed".

Anyway, relative but unrelated to the CSA, the English FA released their final version of their Strategic Plan for 20008-2012

http://www.thefa.com/NR/rdonlyres/000220ac/rylcyedwlcqdskrwpxzyggdugzbhpjru/FAVision_200812.pdf

It's a good read.
