CanadianSwede
Tomorrow marks the beginning of CONCACAF qualifying for SA 2010. Bermuda hosting The Cayman Islands. I also think that GolTv is showing the Belize vs. St. Kitts and Nevis match on wednesday. Cheers
marktci
The mighty Turks and Caicos records what I believe is their second ever win in international competition, beating St. Lucia 2-1. No surprise that LA's Gavin Glinton scored one of the two Turks and Caicos goals. A number of the members of the team are familiar to me, having played with them when I lived there, ten years ago. One of the unused subs was my former boss's son who was about ten years old when I was there. Hard to picture him as a senior international now. N-A
Turks And Caicos Islands T and C Islands 2 St Lucia 1 This game was the first WC match to be played in the T and C Islands Just had a look at some information about the T and C Islands. Glinton is now with Yallop's San Jose Earthquakes
marktci
Just exchanged e-mails with my former boss. Apparently St Lucia's goal came in extra-time, which could unfortunately end up hurting TCI. And I was wrong about the age of my former boss's son. He's just turned 15 (and is captain of the U-17s).

CanadianSwede
I think in Canada TV5 has the rights. Would make sense. TV5 is worldwide and much of Africa is French Speaking with many expats living in other countries esp. Canada. GolTv is more interested spanish speaking countries, except there coverage of the German league.

nolando
The last two sides were decided for CONCACAF qualifying today. Bahamas beat BVI on an away goals rule to advance and play Jamaica. RIO DE JANEIRO, March 30 (Reuters) - Bahamas overcame British Virgin Islands on away goals in their World Cup qualifying tie on Sunday, despite playing both legs at home. The two-leg first preliminary round tie ended 3-3 on aggregate after the teams drew Sunday’s second leg 2-2 in Nassau. However, as British Virgin Islands were technically the home side, Bahamas qualified on away goals. Bahamas, who had officially hosted Wednesday’s 1-1 draw also played in Nassau, will face Jamaica in the next stage of the marathon CONCACAF qualifying tournament in June. Michael Bethel and Demont Mitchell scored either side of halftime to put Bahamas in control before Anadale Williams netted twice in the last 12 minutes, including a 90th-minute equaliser, for the British Virgin Islands. British Virgin Islands agreed to play both legs in Nassau after their own stadium was ruled unsuitable under new FIFA regulations. Bermuda completed the line-up for the second preliminary round—when regional big guns such as Mexico and United States enter the fray—with a 3-1 win away to Cayman Islands in George Town. Bermuda’s Devaun Degraff scored twice in eight minutes before halftime and Kwame Steede added a third in the 52nd minute. Marshall Forbes pulled one back for Cayman Islands with a penalty. Bermuda, who won 4-2 on aggregate, meet Trinidad & Tobago. (Writing by Brian Homewood; Editing by Ed Osmond)
Soju
Any predictions? Obviously some of the fixtures like USA v Barbados are mismatches and shouldn't hold any surprise, but some of them should be close. I'm going with: A&B v Cuba - 0:2 / 1:1 - Cuba advances but stumbles to get there Suriname v Guyana - 1:2 / 1:3 - Guyana advances and shows a return to form Panama v El Salvador - 3:0 / 2:0 - Panama advances after El Salvador bunker (haven't kept up with El Salvador do they stand a chance against Panama?) Haiti v N&A - 2:0 / 4:1 - N&A come out goal desperate in 2nd leg and Haiti punishes them, Haiti advances

It seems to me that Panama and El Salvador have been on opposite paths for the past decade, they might just pass each other in the hallway, Panama heading up and ES heading down...to me it seems a bit of a shame that one of those two will be gone while Suriname or Guyana will still be around for the group stages. I dont know, maybe ES deserve it. CONCACAF karma, maybe? Any predictions for upset losers? If I had to pick one (and to be honest, there may not be one this time around) then I am torn between Haiti and Cuba.
Soju
If I had to pick one I'd say Cuba could blow it. Not basing that on much except that Haiti look more confident attacking and should be good for a few goals. Personally I like that Guyana/Suriname will be in the group for a change. I have no problem with El Salvador going out because I think we know how they'll play and it's no good for anyone, cynical football with lots of diving and time wasting. OK I admit I'm still biased from the Peschisolido incident but still....
beachesl
The rumors of El Salvador`s death is premature. They just have had a real bad patch, but there is too much latent talent there. They may not have Panama`s organization or money, but they will emerge again, if not this cycle, then for the 2014 WC`s.
Alex
Well Id thought Id add to this thread, as I couldnt see any posts regarding the Grenada- Costa Rica game of the second round. 2-0 Grenada 29th minute Modeste 20' Roberts 27' Suriname - Guyana at 75' Suriname 1 Guyana 0 Looks like its in Suriname
youllneverwalkalone
Wow, that sounds like quite the upset in the making. For our complaining about the group of death, we actually made out alright in this preliminary round.
footballfreak
Looks like Grenada may have been handed the dreaded CONCA-shaft. They hada man sent off 5 mins into the 2nd half and had two penalty appeals denied.
jpg75
Victor Nunez ties it late (one account has 77th and the other 80th). FT Grenada 2 - 2 Costa Rica. Here's hoping Jason Roberts puts on a show and steals the game singlehandedly in San Jose.
